history
Yudai bridge was raised by Yu Fengqi, a local Hakka tycoon. It was built in 1740 of the Qing Dynasty, so it is called "Fengqi bridge". Yu Fengqi also became a well-known figure among Hakka families in Gannan, Jiangxi Province, because of the construction of Yudai bridge. In the fifth year of the Qianlong reign of the Qing Dynasty, the Hushan river was torrential, and the two sides of the river were separated by thousands of miles, so it was very inconvenient for pedestrians. In order to benefit the common people and facilitate the merchants from all over the world, Yu Fengqi, a local rich man, called together local migrant workers to build Yudai bridge at his own expense. However, when the Yudai bridge was half finished, it stopped - there was no money left for the project. Yu Fengqi wants to cry without tears. After much deliberation, Yu Fengqi decided to beg for money to build the jade belt bridge. Fortunately, after only a few decades, Yu Fengqi was known by a kind-hearted widow. The widow gave all her family's money to Yu Fengqi and sent him back to the bridge repair site. Yudai bridge is finally completed. Yu Fengqi's sincerity and faith in building the bridge have been praised by Hakka people for hundreds of years. The story of building the bridge has been passed down from generation to generation.
After more than 270 years, Yudai bridge is still strong, but I don't know how many Hakka elders have visited it, how many brokers have had a rest in Yudai bridge, how many pilgrims have burned incense in front of the temple in the middle of the bridge, and how many passers-by have heard the story of Yu Fengqi begging for money to build the bridge
In ancient times, Yudai bridge was the transportation hub from Xinfeng County in southern Jiangxi to Xingning and Heping in Guangdong. It is famous for its peculiar structure and majestic momentum in southern Jiangxi and northern Guangdong. The surging river flows thousands of miles, and the jade belt flies to lock the two hillsides. " This is the true portrayal of Yudai bridge. Today, the scenery of Yudai bridge is no longer the same. It has been quiet for some years. The bridge has been damaged and the post road cobble is incomplete. But we firmly believe that those who approach it will appreciate its majestic and tall, and at the same time admire Yu Fengqi's temperament, character and the true story of repairing the bridge.
Fortunately, in 1932 and 1954, Mr. Yu Fuguang raised funds twice to repair the bridge. In 1983, Xinfeng County government listed Yudai bridge as a cultural relic for protection.
