Xiamen Institute of technology is located in Xiamen, a coastal city in Southeast China. Founded in 1981, Lujiang Vocational University is the earliest full-time vocational and Technical University in Fujian Province. Lujiang vocational university period
In the spring of 1981, the CPC Xiamen Municipal Committee and Xiamen Municipal People's government decided to set up a municipal vocational college to cultivate the applied talents in the front line of technology and management urgently needed by Xiamen Special Economic Zone. On May 19, Xiamen Municipal People's government issued the "notice on Approving and transferring the plan for establishing Lujiang Vocational University" with xzheng (1981) No. 199 document, officially approving the establishment of Lujiang Vocational University, a comprehensive full-time day college, which is located in Fengchao mountain. Lujiang Vocational University was officially established. Based on the original eight junior college classes of agriculture, finance and trade, aquatic products, industry, foreign languages, health, architecture and geography of Teachers College, it began to recruit students.

On December 8, the people's Government of Fujian Province issued the "reply on the establishment of Lujiang Vocational University in Xiamen" and agreed to establish Lujiang Vocational University in Xiamen.
In January 1987, the Xiamen municipal government decided to move Xiamen Vocational College of Economics (founded in 1985) to Lujiang Vocational University under the leadership of the Municipal Education Commission, and held a handover ceremony with the two universities that afternoon. After the formal abolition of the establishment of the Vocational School of economics, the international economic cooperation major was changed into the international finance major and merged into the Department of economics of Luda.
In November 1987, the mayor's executive meeting of Xiamen municipal government decided to assign the former Huli Industrial Park training center to Luda.
In 1988, Lujiang Vocational University Affiliated secondary school was founded, located at No. 47, Nanshan Road, Huli district.
In 1992, the technical secondary school affiliated to Lujiang Vocational University was changed into Xiamen technical school,

The building area is 16000 square meters. There are 87 staff members, including 58 full-time teachers (5 senior lecturers and 19 lecturers) and 598 students in the school headquarters. The school adheres to the way of multi form, multi-level, multi-function and combination of production and education. In recent years, it has set up vocational secondary and high school classes for external radiation. As of 1995, there are 10 radiation classes with nearly 500 students. It also runs correspondence college classes with Jiangsu University of technology and other universities, and has trained more than 800 graduates.
In March 1994, the Training Department of Lujiang Vocational University was established. In March 1995, it was renamed as the Ministry of adult education. In October of the same year, it was approved as the continuing education base of Fujian Province by the Provincial Department of labor.
By September 1995, the school had 7 departments and 11 majors in economics, foreign languages, social sciences, construction engineering, machinery, electronics and arts and crafts.
In February 1997, with the approval of the State Education Commission, Lujiang Vocational University held adult higher education, and enrolled the first night college students in the same year.
On May 27, 1998, the Adult Education College of Lujiang Vocational University was officially established after being confirmed by the Provincial Education Commission and put on record by the Ministry of education.
In August 2003, the University planned to upgrade and recruit undergraduates of seven majors.
Xiamen Institute of Technology
In 2004, Xiamen Polytechnic School Affiliated to Lujiang Vocational University was merged into Jimei University. In August, it was upgraded and renamed "Xiamen Institute of technology" with the approval of the Ministry of education.
In May 2005, with the renaming of the school, the Adult Education College of Lujiang Vocational University was renamed as the Adult Education College of Xiamen Institute of technology.
Since September 2006, the school of adult education of Xiamen Institute of technology has started to recruit undergraduate education students;
In the same year, it was approved by Fujian self-study examination committee as the main examination school for the pilot specialty of self-study examination system reform.
According to the development of adult higher education situation and the needs of school running transformation, in October 2007, the College changed its name to the school of continuing education of Xiamen Institute of technology.
In August 2004, it was upgraded and renamed "Xiamen Institute of technology" with the approval of the Ministry of education.
In May 2007, the University passed the bachelor's degree authorization unit and professional assessment.
In October 2009, the first school in Chinese mainland put forward the construction of "Pro industry university".
In 2010, it was selected into the list of the first batch of universities in Fujian Province to jointly train talents.
In September 2011, the University became the "excellent engineer education and training plan" University of the Ministry of education; in October, it became the first batch of National Pilot Universities of "professional master's degree education for national special needs". In the same year, Xiamen Institute of technology entered Xiamen Software Vocational and technical college.
In June 2012, the University passed the undergraduate teaching qualification assessment of the Ministry of education.
In January 2013, the University was established as "key construction university in Fujian Province" by Fujian Provincial People's government.
In 2014, with the approval of the Ministry of education, it became a training institution entrusted by the Chinese government scholarship, and began to recruit international graduate students who enjoy the Chinese government scholarship and the Chinese government special scholarship - "support local scholarship" project.
In December 2016, it was selected as one of the first batch of national demonstration universities for deepening innovation and entrepreneurship education reform.
In June 2017, Missouri College of Xiamen Institute of technology was officially approved by the Ministry of education.
In 2018, Xiamen Institute of technology was newly added as a master's degree awarding unit.
