Dongting Lake Bridge
Dongting Lake Bridge is a river crossing channel connecting Junshan district and Yueyanglou District in Yueyang City, Hunan Province, China. It is located on the Dongting Lake waterway and is a part of the urban trunk road in the northwest of Yueyang City.

Dongting Lake Bridge starts from Jingming Avenue in the west, crosses Dongting Lake waterway in the East and ends at Dongfeng Lake in the East. The total length of the line is 5783.5m, and the total length of the main bridge is 5300m. The bridge deck is a two-way four lane urban expressway with a design speed of 60km / H.
Construction process
In August 1995, the third party meeting of Yueyang City was held, and Yueyang Municipal government decided to have relevant plans for the preparation of Dongting Lake Bridge.
On February 6, 1996, Hunan Provincial Planning Commission approved the construction of Dongting Lake Bridge; on December 19, the construction of Dongting Lake Bridge started.
In 1997, the project headquarters of Dongting Lake Bridge issued a notice to invite tenders for the architectural design of the bridgehead of Dongting Lake Bridge.
On August 18, 2000, the closure project of Dongting Lake Bridge was completed;
On November 27, Dongting Lake Bridge was completed; on December 26, Dongting Lake Bridge was opened to traffic.
On December 29, 2002, Dongting Lake Bridge passed the completion acceptance.
Bridge location
Dongting Lake Bridge is located in the northwest of Yueyanglou District, Yueyang City, Hunan Province, China. It starts from Jingming Avenue in Junshan District in the west, crosses Dongting Lake waterway, extends along Dongting avenue to Yueyanglou District in the East, connects Dongting North Road, and ends at the southeast of Dongfeng Lake.

Dongting Lake Bridge is composed of main bridge on water, east-west approach bridge, three pylons, piers and their interchange ramps. The main bridge section is arranged from northwest to Southeast.
Design concept
Dongting Lake Bridge is located at the throat of the four rivers of Hunan, Ziyuan, Lijiang and the Yangtze River flowing out of Dongting Lake and into the Yangtze River, so flood control is particularly important. According to the approval of the Yangtze River Water Conservancy Commission, the main and auxiliary openings of about 300 meters should be arranged in the main channel, and the large span should be adopted as far as possible. At the same time, the bridge is close to Yueyang Tower and Junshan Scenic Spot, and Yueyang City is a historical city In Huaming city and tourist resort, the structural form of the main bridge must be coordinated with the landscape of Yueyang Tower, Junshan and the vast Dongting Lake. Therefore, considering the factors of novel and beautiful bridge type, advanced technology and convenient construction in combination with the natural conditions and flood control requirements, the three tower cable-stayed bridge scheme with better economic index and novel and beautiful bridge type is finally selected.
Design features
The main control of the main bridge of Dongting Lake Bridge is unequal height three tower prestressed concrete cable-stayed bridge, with double inclined cable plane arrangement and longitudinal floating system; the cable tower adopts inverted Y-shaped gem shaped reinforced concrete tower, and the tower body and cross beam adopt No.50 prestressed concrete hollow section; the main beam adopts integral slab section and adopts No.50 prestressed concrete integral cantilever casting. The double inclined plane cables are fan-shaped, the stay cables are protected by hot extruded PE casings and cold cast headed anchors. The bearing platform of cable tower is an integral structure. The East Bank of the auxiliary hole of the main bridge is No. 50 prestressed concrete continuous launching beam, the upper structure is single box single chamber inclined belly bench section box beam, and the lower structure is No. 30 reinforced concrete double column pier. The auxiliary West Bank of the main bridge is located at No. 50 prestressed concrete simply supported T-beam, in which the substructure is double column pier, the capping beam adopts T-section and No. 40 prestressed concrete.
Design parameters
The total length of Dongting Lake Bridge is 5783.5 meters, including 5300 meters of bridge, 1880 meters of main river crossing bridge, 3420 meters of auxiliary span bridge and 480 meters of approach bridge. The middle tower is 127.49 meters above the top of the bearing platform, the side tower is 98.23 meters above the top of the bearing platform, the anchorage wall thickness of the tower body is 120 cm, and the rest are 80 cm; the middle tower is 5.5 meters wide along the bridge, 8.0 meters wide at the root, and 35 meters high at the transfer anchorage column; the side tower is 5.5 meters wide along the bridge, 7.5 meters wide at the root, and 25 meters high at the transfer anchorage column. The main beam is 23.40 meters wide, the two main ribs are 250 cm wide, 200 cm high, and the plate thickness is 32 cm. The standard cable distance on the tower is 1.50 m, and that on the beam is 8 m. There are 22 pairs of cables on each side of the middle tower and 16 pairs of cables on each side of the side tower. There are 111 pairs of cables in the whole bridge. The cables are made in China with a diameter of 7 mm low relaxation galvanized high strength steel wire, and the standard strength is 1600 kPa.

On May 1, 2009, the toll system of Dongting Lake Bridge was cancelled and the whole bridge was free of charge.

According to the Circular of Yueyang Municipal People's Government on strengthening the management of Dongting Lake Bridge (yuezhenggao No. 2) in 2010, the following provisions are made on the driving vehicles of Dongting Lake Bridge:
1. It is forbidden for overload vehicles to pass through Dongting Lake Bridge; inflammable, explosive and chemical dangerous goods transport vehicles passing through the bridge must first apply to the municipal Dongting Lake Bridge Administration Bureau for approval and take corresponding safety protection measures before passing.
2. Tracked vehicles, iron wheeled vehicles, animal powered vehicles and vehicles that may damage the road surface of the bridge and affect traffic safety are prohibited to drive on the bridge.

1. The basic performance of multi tower PC cable-stayed bridge is studied systematically for the first time. A set of effective methods to improve the overall stiffness of multi tower structure and reduce the stress amplitude of tail cable are explored. 6. A complete set of C60 high performance concrete technology was developed. It is the first time that C60 high strength concrete is applied to such a large-scale cable-stayed bridge in China.
