Rossia Street
Located in Angangxi District, Qiqihar City, Heilongjiang Province, China, Luoxia street was formed in 1907. It is a street with good preservation and outstanding characteristics of Russian style buildings along the Middle East Railway.
Rossia street is 1451 meters long and 18 meters wide. Russian buildings distributed along both sides of the street are evenly arranged, forming a functional building group with angxi station as the center.
In 1985, Angangxi Middle East Railway complex was announced as a municipal cultural relic protection unit by the people's Government of Qiqihar City, and was listed in the list of municipal protected blocks.
Basic information of streets
Located in the North Community of angxi Road, Luoxi street was formed in 1907, with a total length of 2000 meters. It is east-west, with 100 year old Russian buildings evenly distributed on both sides. It forms a complex of buildings with complete residential, church, culture, sports, medical and other facilities, perfect functions and reasonable layout centered on angxi railway station.
Historical development
In August 1897, the construction of the Middle East Railway began.
In 1904, the Middle East Railway with Harbin as the center, Manzhouli in the west, Suifenhe in the East and Dalian in the South was completed and opened to traffic, and Angangxi railway station (formerly known as Qiqihar station) became an important hub on this railway.
At that time, Angangxi was responsible for marshalling, cultivation, road protection and other important functions. Workers and technicians from Russia came here to build the railway. At the same time, they also built a large number of office and residential buildings near the railway station. These Russian style buildings gradually converged into a main street - Rosia street.
These buildings with Russian style have witnessed the history of the Middle East Railway, and have high architectural art value and historical and cultural value. They are also a street with good preservation and outstanding characteristics of Russian style buildings along the Middle East Railway.
In 1952, the Middle East Railway was completely owned by the Chinese government. In 1985, the buildings of the Middle East Railway in Angangxi were declared as municipal cultural relics protection units by the people's Government of Qiqihar City, and were listed in the list of municipal protected blocks.
Main buildings
Angangxi railway station of Middle East Railway, known as Qiqihar station at that time, is a large transit station of Middle East Railway. The buildings are mainly distributed in Tiebei Yuhong Road, Beixing Road, Lingyuan Road, Yingbin Road, Tienan Xijiang road and Zhenxing road in angxi district. The building dates from 1901 to 1907. There are 111 valuable Russian buildings, including 6 office buildings, with a total area of 4145 square meters. There are 105 residential buildings with a total construction area of 13423 square meters.
Among them, there are 6 office buildings including railway station, Railway Club, railway hospital, engineer's office building, real estate section and cargo office. They are of rubble foundation, brick concrete structure and brick wood structure, with Russian architectural style. The house has large space, high frame, narrow and long windows, heavy floor and fireplace, and the building is regular.
Angangxi railway station of Middle East Railway is located 30 meters to the east of Angangxi railway station of Binzhou railway. It was built in 1903 with a construction area of 396 square meters. It is a two-story rectangular brick and wood building in the north-south direction. It is composed of main building and wooden pavilion.
Angangxi Club of Middle East Railway is located 80 meters north of angxi railway station of Binzhou railway. It was built in 1906 with a building area of 1736 square meters. It is also a two-story rectangular brick and wood building in the north-south direction. It is a leisure and entertainment place for former Russian railway employees.
Angxi Railway Hospital of Middle East Railway is located between Yingbin Road and Beixing road in angxi district. Built in 1903, with a construction area of 323 square meters, it is an L-shaped brick and wood structure.
The engineer's office building of angxi Middle East Railway is located in Tiebei street, Lingyuan Road, angxi district. It was built in 1903. It has a building area of 647 square meters and a three story brick concrete structure.
Located in Yingbin Road, angxi District, next to the railway line, angxi freight section of Middle East Railway is composed of two single buildings, No. 115 and No. 116. It was built in 1903. The building area is 144 square meters and 458 square meters respectively, with brick concrete structure.
Angxi real estate section of Middle East Railway is located in Yingbin Road, angxi district. It was founded in 1906. It is composed of houses and water buildings, with a construction area of 441 square meters and a brick wood structure.
The 105 Russian residential buildings are brick wood structure, brick concrete structure and wood structure respectively. The characteristics of the building complex are that most of the houses have flower halls outside, wood carving, thick walls, high and narrow windows; there are wooden floors and canopies inside, masonry fire walls and fireplaces, and the space inside the house is large, warm in winter and cool in summer, solid and durable, reflecting the strong Russian national customs.
Street status
In 2003, Qiqihar Municipal government listed the 100 year old buildings in angxi district as protected blocks, and successively promulgated and implemented the regulations on the protection of blocks and buildings to comprehensively protect the old buildings here, and the railway station waiting room, club and other buildings have been repaired and protected.
Some experts once pointed out that among the historical buildings along the original Middle East Railway in Heilongjiang Province, the overall style of Angangxi is relatively intact, especially the Luoxia street. To protect it as soon as possible has become the key to make this "cultural necklace" shine again.
In October 2009, more than 200 streets (blocks) from 24 provinces, cities and autonomous regions applied for the promotion of "famous Chinese historical and cultural streets". In the completed preliminary evaluation, Rosia street has become one of the only 15 shortlisted streets in China.

Among the national historical and cultural blocks
Heilongjiang daily on April 25, 2015, the Ministry of housing and urban rural development of the people's Republic of China and the State Administration of cultural relics announced that 30 blocks in China were among the first batch of Chinese historical and cultural blocks, and Luoxi street in Angangxi District of Qiqihar city was selected. This is another major event in the protection of Qiqihar's famous historical and cultural city after the State Council approved Qiqihar as a national historical and cultural city in August 2014. It is also a national historical and cultural district after Luoxia street became a provincial historical and Cultural District in 2013. It is understood that Rosia street is the only selected block in our province this time.
