Gutian Conference site, formerly known as "Liao ancestral hall", also known as "Wanyuan Temple". It is located at the foot of caimeiling Bijia mountain, Gutian Town, Shanghang County, Longyan City, Fujian Province. The seat of the meeting site faces east and West. It was built in 1848 as a single story Xieshan quadrangle ancestral hall with brick and wood structure. The ancestral hall is composed of front and back halls and left and right wing rooms, with a building area of 826 square meters. Later, it was changed to the site of Hesheng primary school.

In May 1929, the red army moved into Gutian for the first time and renamed it "Shuguang primary school". In December, the Ninth Congress of the Fourth Red Army, presided over by Comrade Mao Zedong, was held here and passed the resolution of Gutian Conference, which is of historic significance.

In March 1961, the State Council listed the former site of Gutian Conference as the first batch of national key cultural relics protection units.

In December 2016, it was selected into the list of national red tourist attractions.

In order to pay homage to the medical workers and other special dedication occupations who are struggling in the front line of fighting against the epidemic situation, the scenic spot will be open to the national medical workers and others free of charge from the date of resumption of operation to December 31, 2020.

Historical evolution

The meeting site of Gutian Conference was originally "Liao's ancestral hall" in Xibei village of Gutian Town, also known as "Wanyuan ancestral hall". It was built in 1848.

In 1917, it was rebuilt. In the early 1920s, harmony primary school was set up here.

In May 1929, after the Fourth Army of the Chinese workers' and peasants' Red Army entered Gutian, it was renamed Shuguang primary school. On December 28 of the same year, the Ninth Congress of the Fourth Army of the Red Army of the Communist Party of China was held here.

On the new year's day of 1930, the Fourth Red Army held a special military and civilian party here.

In 1953, the site was partially repaired.

In 1962, the venue was completely repaired and the original appearance of the venue was restored.

In 1970, a new Gutian Conference memorial hall was built near the meeting site.

In December 1989, General Secretary Jiang Zemin visited the site of Gutian Conference and inscribed the inscription "inherit and carry forward the spirit of Gutian Conference and strengthen the construction of the party and the army".

On June 21, 1999, Hu Jintao, then member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Secretary of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee and vice president of the state, made a special visit to the Gutian Conference site and the memorial hall.

On October 14, 2004, Jia Qinglin, then member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese people's Political Consultative Conference, paid a special visit to the Gutian Conference site and visited the Gutian Conference Memorial during his inspection work in Fujian.

On November 22, 2004, when Li Changchun, then member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, visited the Gutian Conference memorial hall, he pointed out: "Fujian is an old revolutionary base, which has not only made great historical contributions to the victory of the Chinese revolution, but also left a very rich revolutionary historical and cultural heritage for future generations.

On November 22, 2008, Li Keqiang, then member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and vice premier of the State Council, made a special trip to the old district of Western Fujian to visit the Gutian Conference site and the Gutian Conference Memorial Hall.

From March 29 to 30, 2009, He Guoqiang, then member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Secretary of the CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, visited the Gutian Conference site in the old area of Western Fujian again during his inspection work in Fujian.

From February 12 to 13, 2010, Hu Jintao, then general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, state president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, came to Longyan City, Fujian Province. On the morning of new year's Eve, Hu Jintao made a special trip to Gutian Town, Shanghang County, Longyan city.

On October 31, 2014, Xi Jinping, general secretary of the CPC Central Committee, chairman of the CPC Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, came to Gutian town to attend the political work conference of the whole army, and also visited the Gutian conference site, the Mao Zedong memorial garden and the Gutian Memorial Hall.

Architectural pattern

Gutian Conference site is composed of front and back hall and left and right wing rooms. The courtyard in the site is spacious, which is the front courtyard, the middle gate, the lower hall and the main hall. There are wing rooms on the left and right sides, stepping into the middle door, Gutian Conference Hall is in the main hall, and the rostrum is on the left. Mao Zedong put the first wing room on the right side into Comrade Mao Zedong's office and rest room.

Outside the ancestral hall is the grassland. On the left is the parade ground of the Fourth Red Army of that year, and on the southwest is the command platform for the leaders of the Fourth Red Army of that year to review the training of the officers and soldiers of the Red Army. Behind the forest, opposite the meeting site, there is a new Gutian convention exhibition hall built in the 1960s. There is a water diversion well and "lotus pond" on the right.

Cultural relics protection

In March 1961, the State Council announced the Gutian Conference site as a key cultural relics protection unit of the state.

In August 1986, it was listed as one of the top ten scenic spots in Fujian Province.

In October 1999, the site of Gutian Conference was awarded ten "achievement awards of historical relics protection" in Fujian Province.

In May 2007, it was awarded "national advanced collective of cultural relics system" by the Ministry of personnel and the State Administration of cultural relics.

In November 2007, it was awarded "Fujian national defense education base" by Fujian provincial government.

In April 2008, it was selected as "AAAA tourist attraction" by the National Tourism Administration.

On October 15, 2015, the national tourism resources planning and development quality evaluation committee announced that Gutian tourist area in Shanghang County, Longyan City, Fujian Province was officially promoted to the national 5A tourist attraction
