Yichang Museum
Yichang museum is located in qiusuo Road, Wujiagang New District, Yichang City, covering an area of 33000 square meters, with main building area of 43080 square meters, aboveground building area of 33280 square meters, underground building area of 9800 square meters, including exhibition area of 14240 square meters. There are 289 parking spaces (including basement) on the ground floor and four floors above the ground. The main building is abstractly generated from traditional Chinese dragon shaped decoration. Among them, the copper "window of history" is inlaid. The most representative "taiyangren stone carving" in Yichang is engraved on the sun roof. The large base at the four corners of the building means the stars.

Development history
New Yichang Museum
The new Yichang museum is located on the Bank of Bailin River and beside qiuyutai Park in Yichang East Railway Station area. After the completion of the new museum, it will become a cultural landmark of Yichang city. In addition to its majestic appearance, the new museum will also embody the elements of fashion and the cultural characteristics of Yichang flavor, and its internal facilities will keep pace with the most advanced museums in China. With the concept of "window of history", the main building of Yichang Museum integrates the historical and cultural elements of Bachu, forming a landmark building with rich connotation and cultural characteristics. The design of the main building takes the connotation of Bachu culture as the element, showing the crystallization of Yichang's history and culture. The exterior wall is made of strip stones with varying depth, and the surface is decorated with the pattern of "Ba Hu, Chu Feng", which shows the design effect of "Ba people adore tigers, Chu people adore Phoenix, tiger and Phoenix sing together"; the hall dome borrows the "sun" from the "sun man" stone carving as the design element, and the copper construction around the dome skillfully uses the design of hollowed out seal cutting, which reflects the ancestors of Yichang area First, the worship of the sun and Yichang's worship of Qu Zi's philosophy.
In addition, the landscape around the museum presents a dynamic effect of gathering around the center in terms of layout, pavement and planting, from loose to tight, from sparse to dense, from convergence to central gathering, and finally forms the whole museum building.

Old Yichang Museum
The former Yichang Museum (now Yichang Art Museum) is located at NO.115 Yiling Avenue, Yichang City, Hubei Province. Its predecessor was the Yichang regional museum established in April 1980. In April 1992, Yichang City merged and renamed Yichang Museum. The new building was completed and opened to the public in August 1993. According to relevant data, the Museum covers an area of 9700 square meters, the building covers an area of 3825 square meters, and the building area of 8000 square meters. The exhibition building is a three story antique building. The museum has 65 staff members, including offices, Archaeology Department, exhibition department, mass work department, storage department, ancient folk custom research room, library and reference room, security department, personnel and finance department, etc.
The predecessor of Yichang museum was Yichang regional museum established in April 1980. In April 1992, Yichang City merged and renamed Yichang Museum. The museum was completed and opened to the public in August 1993.

The new Yichang museum was officially approved in 2013, and the main building was basically completed by the end of 2016. On May 18, 2018, interior decoration, exhibition hall decoration and other exhibition work officially entered the construction site. The total investment of the new museum project is 727 million yuan, and the main building area is 43080 square meters.
The main building of the museum is square in shape and stable in atmosphere. It is abstractly generated by traditional Chinese dragon shaped decoration. The copper "window of history" is inlaid with it, and the sun roof is engraved on it. The four large bases are located at the four corners of the building, implying four stars, forming a beautiful picture of "harmony between man and nature". The exterior wall is made of strip stones with different depths, showing the pattern of "Ba Hu Chu Feng" and the design effect of "Ba people adore tiger, Chu people adore Phoenix, and tiger and Phoenix sing together".
The location is the hall on the first floor, and the exhibition theme of the new hall is "the gorge opens to the sky". The famous poet Guo Mo ruo's praise of the magnificent scenery of Xiling Gorge when he came out of the Three Gorges is an accurate description of the geographical location of Yichang City, which coincides with the evolution of Yichang from small to large, from weak to strong, and several leaps and bounds. Kui Gorge (another name for Qutang gorge) and Wu Gorge are linked by arms, Qingjiang River of the Yangtze River is tied by waist, Wutou and Shuwei are connected by body, and plain and hills are encircled. Chu people made a fortune in this area, and finally won the title. Tujia originated here and developed the territory by cutting through the thorns and thorns. Yichang relies on the Yangtze River to recuperate, with beautiful scenery and outstanding people. The new Yichang Museum covers three main exhibition lines, including 10 exhibition sections and 33 units. The first is the basic exhibition, including ancient Xiling, Bachu Yiling, Qianzai xiazhou and modern Yichang, which tells the development of Yichang's historical civilization; the second is the special exhibition, including three gorges, memory of the ancient city and the charm of calligraphy and ink, which depicts the colorful culture of Yichang; the third is the special exhibition, including digital exhibition hall and Kaifa exhibition hall Hongmeng and natural selection (Bailin Hall) lead us to find the inheritance of Yichang's humanity and nature.

The natural selection exhibition hall is not only a special commemorative exhibition hall for the donation of Wildlife Specimens by Kenneth Bailin, chairman of the global health and education foundation, but also one of the special exhibition halls of Yichang Museum. It displays 208 rare animal specimens from South Africa and North America, as well as living Yangtze River sturgeon specimens in Yichang.

Since 2004, Bailin has started donating animal specimens to Chinese museums and helping venues organize exhibitions of rare animal specimens. So far, he has donated more than hundreds of millions of dollars worth of animal specimens to 27 museums in Beijing, Tianjin and Shanghai to promote the development of ecological science education.

This exhibition hall is located on the right side of the first floor. Ancient Xiling
