Wafangzhuang iron smelting site is located in the area of wafangzhuang, Beiguan, Nanyang City, Henan Province, covering an area of 120000 square meters. In 1959, the excavation area was 3000 square meters. A large number of relics have been excavated, including 17 smelting furnaces, all of which are semi crypt type, consisting of furnace door, furnace chamber, hearth and chimney. Beside the furnace, there are a large number of pottery models and products for casting iron. One of them is ductile iron. There are four kiln sites. The excavation of the site proves that as early as 2000 years ago in the Han Dynasty, Chinese people had mastered the technology of high temperature smelting and casting.

Wancheng District

Wancheng District is under the jurisdiction of Nanyang City, Henan Province, the people's Republic of China. It covers an area of 880 square kilometers and has a total population of 840000 (AD 2006). District Government: Jianshe Road, Dongguan Street.

It is an important cotton production area with developed agriculture and abundant underground mineral resources, including dozens of minerals such as oil and kyanite.

Wancheng District has four new sub district offices, including Hanye sub district office, Zhongjing sub district office, Baihe sub district office and Zaolin sub district office, and six sub district offices, including the original Dongguan sub district office and Xinhua sub district office.

There are 17 furnace bases excavated in this site, all of which are half cavern type, and are composed of furnace door, fire chamber, hearth and chimney. There are four kilns with 400 Jin iron pieces and about 400 pottery models. The unearthed forged iron objects include knives, sickles, hoes and spears. The cast iron objects include gears, axes, hammers, and the casting tools include crucibles, hot air pipes and refractories.
