Xintaimen, where Lu Xun's former residence is located, was built in the early 19th century. It is one of the most popular scenic spots in Lu Xun's hometown. Lu Xun spent his childhood and adolescence here until he went abroad to study in 1899.
The former residence used to be two entrances, but the one in front was not the original appearance. The three bungalows of the Zhou family have been demolished. In the back, there are five two-story buildings. In front of the small hall downstairs in Dongshou, there is a place to eat and meet guests. In the second half, there is Lu Xun's mother's room. In the first half downstairs in Xishou, there is Lu Xun's grandmother's bedroom. Xicijian is the room where Lu Xun was born. A patio behind the building is a kitchen and three bungalows for stacking sundries.

Historical evolution
During the Jiaqing period of the Qing Dynasty (1796-1820), Zhou xiongzhan bought land to build Laotaimen.
Lu Xun was born in Shaoxing on the third day of August in the seventh year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu of the Qing Dynasty (September 25, 1881). When he returned to his hometown to teach, he also used the fifth floor of the first building in Xishou as his bedroom

Around 1913, Lu Xun's family renovated the two black lacquer stone gates on the street of Lu Xun's former residence, which were the side gates of the original new gate.
At the end of the Qing Dynasty, the Zhou family gradually declined. In 1918, the people agreed to sell xintaimen and BaiCaoYuan to Zhu LANGXIAN, a wealthy family in the East. After the Zhu family bought it, they demolished and built the new platform door, but the fourth entrance to the two Bay building and the fifth entrance to the three Bay flat house along the West axis remained unchanged. Architectural features
overview
Lu Xun's former residence, in the form of gate layout, covers an area of 580 square meters. The first entrance is the platform, the second entrance is the flat house and corridor, and the third entrance is the bedroom where Lu Xun worked in Shaoxing. The fourth entrance is a two Bay building, the first half of which is called xiaotangqian. It is Lu Xun's place for family dining and reception. The second half is Lu Xun's mother's bedroom. Downstairs, the first half of Xishou is Lu Xun's grandmother's bedroom, and the second half serves as an aisle; the fifth is the kitchen; the sixth is a three Bay flat house with a door to the herb garden. Today, each room is decorated with the original display. Covering an area of about 2000 square meters, BaiCaoYuan is a vegetable garden owned by Zhou people. The garden is planted with Gleditsia sinensis, mulberry, etc., with low walls, water wells and other buildings

Sanwei Bookstore
Sanwei bookstore, a Qing Dynasty building, is about 70 meters east of Lu Xun's former residence. It used to be a Shou's study, but later it was changed into a private school. Lu Xun entered the school when he was 12 to 17 years old. The library is the East Flower Hall of shoujiatai gate. It is a three Bay flat room with east facing west. In the back of the house, there is a small garden with preserved plum, Osmanthus fragrans and bamboo. It is a place for Lu Xun to play with his classmates after class

The old gate of the Zhou family
The ancestral residence of Lu Xun is the ancestral residence of the Zhou family. It was built in the Qing Dynasty and is the ancestral residence of Lu Xun. 70 meters to the east of Lu Xun's former residence, opposite Sanwei bookstore. Laotaimen faces south, covering an area of about 2400 square meters. From the south to the north, there are taimengdou, hall, xianghuotang and zuolou, and xianglou is set in the East and West. The first entrance is the platform gate; the second entrance is the hall, which is called the front hall with five bays; the third entrance is the incense hall with five bays, the bright room is the hall, the East and the best rooms are the Buddha Hall and guest room, the West and the best rooms are the dining room and living room; the fourth entrance is the block building with seven bays, the middle of which is the front hall, the East is the study, and the west is the bedroom. The East Wing building has nine rooms and the West Wing building has seven rooms. Today, the central axis and the East and West Wing buildings are arranged in the original state
