In 1992, to commemorate the 60th anniversary of the capture of Zhangzhou by the East Route Army of the Chinese workers' and peasants' Red Army, a monument was built on the left front side of the red building. Marshal Nie Rongzhen, the former political commissar of the East Route Army, inscribed the monument with the title of "monument to the capture of Zhangzhou by the East Route Army of the Chinese workers' and peasants' Red Army". The shape of the monument is novel and the meaning is profound. The image of Golden Sickle and hammer on the top of the monument tells people that we should never forget that it is the workers' and peasants' Revolutionary Army led by the Communist Party of China that has laid the foundation of socialism for the people and called the spirit of the Red Army from generation to generation.
