Hunan No.1 Normal University has the reputation of "a thousand year university and a hundred year normal university". Historical evolution

In 1161 (the 31st year of Shaoxing in the Southern Song Dynasty), Zhang Jun and his son built Chengnan Academy.

In 1165 (the first year of Qiandao), Zhang began to teach apprenticeship in Chengnan Academy.

In 1180, more than 100 years after Zhang's death, with the collapse of the Southern Song Dynasty, Chengnan academy, which was once very popular, became a monk temple in the Yuan Dynasty.

The Ming Dynasty experienced several ups and downs.

In 1507 (the second year of Zhengde), Wu Shizhong, a counsellor, and Chen Fengwu, a scholar, conspired to repair it. Later, it was incorporated into King Ji's residence.

In 1563 (the 42nd year of Jiajing reign), zhaitai, a tuiguan, was restored as "the three pillars of the hall".

It was abolished in 1578.

In 1820 (the 25th year of Jiaqing), it was rebuilt on a large scale according to the original appearance of Chengnan Academy in miaogangfeng, and completed in the winter of the second year of Daoguang (1822). At the same time, in memory of Zhang, the "nanxuan master's temple" (now the location of the first division Library) was built on Miaogong, and the "Wenxing Pavilion" was built in front of the temple.

In 1903, Chengnan Academy was renamed Hunan Normal University.

In 1903, Hunan Normal School was renamed Hunan Normal School.

In 1904, Hunan Normal School (part) was rebuilt as Hunan middle road normal school.

In 1907, Hunan middle road normal school was renamed Hunan Provincial Junior Normal School. In 1912, Hunan Provincial primary normal school was renamed Hunan public first normal school.

In 1914, Hunan public first normal school and Hunan Provincial fourth normal school merged to form Hunan provincial first normal school.

In 1918, Hunan provincial first normal school (in June of that year, he graduated from classes 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 of the first undergraduate course, including Mao Zedong).

In 1926, Hunan provincial first normal school was transformed into Hunan Provincial High School (Education).

In 1928, Hunan Provincial High School (Education) was renamed as Hunan Provincial High School (teacher's model).

In 1929, Hunan Provincial High School (normal school) was transformed into Hunan provincial first normal school.

In 1939, Hunan Provincial No.1 normal school, Hunan Provincial No.1 middle school and Hunan Provincial No.2 girls middle school merged to form Hunan Provincial No.1 temporary middle school.

In 1941, Hunan Provincial No.1 temporary middle school (normal Department) was transformed into Hunan Provincial No.1 normal school.

In 1949, the first normal school of Hunan Province was renamed the first normal school of Hunan Province.

In 2000, Hunan First Normal School was upgraded to Hunan First Normal School (junior college).

In 2008, Hunan First Normal University (junior college) was upgraded to Hunan First Normal University (undergraduate).
