Wenchang Pavilion in Tianjin
Wenchang Pavilion is located on the South Bank of the ancient canal (Yu River) in Yangliuqing town, Xiqing District, and on the east side of Yuanbao island. It is across the river from Luling Golf Villa District, about 15 kilometers away from the city center. It is the landmark of Yangliuqing and an important place for cultural tourism. history
It was built in the fourth year of Wanli in the Ming Dynasty (1576). Kuixing is worshipped in the pavilion. It was burned in 1622 and rebuilt in 1635. It was destroyed again in 1853 and rebuilt again in 1858,
Architectural features
It is a brick and wood structure with three floors and six corners, and is 15 meters high. Six ridge tile top, six taps each holding a ridge, the center for a spherical pearl, exquisite design. Six eaves corner hanging bell duo, the wind blowing bell ring, for the canal on a scene.
The third floor of the attic has its own connotation. The upper level is dedicated to Kuixing. It is said that Kuixing dominates the rise and fall of writing style. The middle level is for offering sacrifices to Emperor Wenchang. Wenchang is said to be the general name of the six stars above the Kui star in the Big Dipper, which dominates fame and wealth. In the Yuan Dynasty, he was granted the title of Wenchang emperor. The lower class offered sacrifices to Confucius.
