historical background
On October 10, 1911, the Wuchang Uprising succeeded, and many provinces in the South responded. In late December, Sun Yat Sen returned to China and assumed the post of interim president. On January 3, 1912, alliance members Wang Jinming, Shi Congyun, and Bai Yayu led the new army of luanzhou to declare an uprising, electrified the whole country, declared independence, and established the northern revolutionary army government. They elected Wang Jinming as the commander in chief, Shi Congyun as the commander in chief, Feng Yuxiang as the chief of staff, and Bai Yayu as the chief of staff. On the 4th, the new uprising army issued an address denouncing the Qing government and preparing to attack Beijing and Tianjin. Later, the uprising failed because of the mutiny of Zhang Jiangong led by the Third Battalion and the suppression of the army of the Qing government, and a large number of officers and soldiers were arrested. Wang Jinming, Shi Congyun, Bai Yayu and other 14 people died calmly. In 1935, after the martyrs died, with the vigorous advocacy and active support of Feng Yuxiang and others, the memorial hall was built in Wenquan village in the western suburb of Beiping.
