There are more than 1500 plant species, including a variety of valuable Chinese herbal medicines, Quercus acutissima forest, Platycladus orientalis forest, shrub forest, Pinus tabulaeformis forest, mixed forest of Pinus tabulaeformis and Quercus liaotungensis, larch forest and birch forest.
Animal resources
Beijing Xiayunling National Forest Park is rich in animal resources, with nearly 200 species of wild vertebrates, including fish eating bat, leopard, brown eared pheasant, black stork, Golden Eagle, impala, spoon chicken, etc., which are listed as the key national protection. In addition, there are many invertebrates such as insects, among which the ant mound at the altitude of 1200 – 1500 meters is more peculiar.

The geological structure is complex. The northwest contains coal, iron, diabase and other mineral resources, while the southeast is rich in slate, quartzite, crystal stone, magnesite, porcelain clay and so on. As of 2014, the reserves of stone and other mineral resources are nearly 50 million tons.
Hydrological resources
Dove terrace reservoir in Xiayunling village, also known as quanshuiwan, was built in 1969. Its dam height is 46.5 meters, its maximum reservoir capacity is 875000 cubic meters, its maximum water area is 125 mu, and its drainage area is 117 square kilometers (as of 2010).
Main attractions
Lilac spring
Clove spring is located in the southwest of the main peak of baicaopan under the slope ridge, on which there is a huge stone stopped along the slope. These huge stones rolled down from the top of the mountain far away and stopped here. Under the slope root, there is a clear spring between the three boulders. The spring water is sweet and cool. There are many Alpine cloves growing around the spring eye. In late spring and early summer, clove flowers bloom here, and the fragrance overflows everywhere, so it is called "clove spring" ”Named as one of the eight scenic spots on the mountain.
Wuzhifeng
The main peak on the Bank of white grass, with five peaks towering like five fingers to the blue sky, is named wuzhifeng. The highest peak is 2161 meters above sea level. It is the highest peak in southwest Beijing.
Gaoping Baicao
With the main peak of 2161 meters at baicaopan as the center, a subalpine meadow with gentle and open ridge planation from northwest to Southeast, about 20 kilometers long, is a natural thousand hectares garden on the top of the mountain. There are more than 290 kinds of flowers and plants and more than 50 kinds of shrubs. Three seasons a year, all kinds of flowers are in full bloom and the fragrance is overflowing.
Kunpeng Gorge
With a total length of 2460 meters and a total area of 5 square kilometers, the canyon is dominated by natural landscapes such as Canyon, Qifeng and primeval forest. Along the way, there are more than 40 landscapes such as "holy water spring", "yiyiyitian", "Yilu shisantan" and "Tianhe waterfall". There are more than 500 kinds of plants and more than 50 kinds of wild animals in the scenic area, which can be called the treasure house of natural animals and plants.
A sea of clouds
"The sea of clouds" is written by Professor Peng Qingxiang of Beijing Normal University. Due to the blocking of the high mountains on the Bank of baicaopan, in spring, summer and autumn, the moist air blown by the southeast monsoon rises along the valley to form clouds. Sometimes these clouds stay in the valley to form a "sea of clouds", sometimes they crawl along the hillside to form a flowing vortex.
New memorial
Without the Communist Party, there would be no new China Memorial Hall. It is located in xiatangshang village, baicaopan mountain, the "roof of Kyoto" in the west of Xiayunling National Forest Park in Beijing. Cao Mars wrote the red song "no new China without the Communist Party" here in October 1943. In March 2001, on the 80th birthday of the Communist Party of China, Comrade Jiang Zemin wrote "no new China without the Communist Party". In June of the same year, the place where he created it was officially opened to the outside world. In 2002, it was listed as the patriotic education base of Beijing, and a new memorial hall of 1800 square meters was built in 2006. On March 28, 2008, as one of the first batch of free museums in Beijing, the memorial hall was officially opened to the public free of charge.
Development and construction
In March 2002, the Party committee and government of Xiayunling Township decided to develop forest tourism according to the characteristics of vast territory and rich forest resources.
In December 2005, it was approved as a national forest park by the State Forestry Administration.
In 2007, Beijing Xiayunling National Forest Park was authorized to use the special logo of China National Forest Park.
In 2014, the people's Government of Xiayunling Township, Fangshan District, Beijing was responsible for the infrastructure construction project of Kunpeng Grand Canyon Tourism base in Beijing Xiayunling National Forest Park, including the construction of 12.89 km new roads and the simultaneous implementation of road drainage and protection works.

History and Humanities
It is said that Xiayunling was called Xialing in Ming Dynasty and Xialing in Qing Dynasty. Later, it was renamed Xiayunling because of the towering mountains on the East and west sides of the park. It was established in Yan Dynasty in Warring States period, and then, after more than 2000 years, it was established in Xiayunling.
