Located in Baijiatuan, the western suburb of Beijing, the Beijing Seismic reference station began to observe and record earthquakes and geomagnetism in 1957. As the first basic station of the National Seismological Bureau network, Beijing seismic station has many observation means, such as seismometry, geomagnetism, gravity, ground tilt, geothermal, water level, atmospheric potential, electromagnetic wave, etc. it is an important base for seismic observation and geophysical experiments in China, and also one of the main stations for editing and exchanging international seismic and geomagnetic data.

Visitors can visit the observation site to see the dynamic change process of the earth being recorded, browse audio-visual and pictures with rich content and detailed information, and directly observe the response of the recorder when the earth shakes through your operation.
Through visiting, listening to lectures and consulting, you can understand the development of Earthquake Science in China, the psychological adjustment when the earthquake comes, and the correct methods of self rescue and mutual rescue when and after the earthquake, so as to master the effective earthquake prevention measures. Beijing seismic base station is also a popular science base.
