The monument of revolutionary martyrs in Siming Mountain is located on the lion mountain on the west side of Lianglong Town, Yuyao City. It is an important building to commemorate the martyrs in the eastern Zhejiang Anti Japanese base area, one of the 19 Anti Japanese base areas in China, and the martyrs in the eastern Zhejiang revolutionary base area during the war of liberation.
Campaign process
In April 1941, the Japanese launched the Ningshao campaign, occupying the entire area on both sides of the Hangzhou Ningbo line and south of the Hangzhou Bay in just over half a month. In order to save the nation from danger, the Party Central Committee adjusted the strategic deployment of the New Fourth Army in Central China. According to the deployment of the Central Committee, more than 900 Anti Japanese armed forces under the leadership of the Pudong Working Committee of the Communist Party of China crossed the Hangzhou Bay in seven batches and reached the three north areas of eastern Zhejiang (the north of Zhenhai, Cixi and Yuyao counties). After these anti Japanese armed forces arrived in the south, they immediately led and relied on the masses of the people to fight against the Japanese aggressors together with the underground Party of Zhejiang, and gradually established the Anti Japanese base area in eastern Zhejiang with Siming Mountain as the center.
Lianglong town of Yuyao is the gateway to Siming Mountain. It is located at the border of Yuyao, Shangyu, Shengxian, Fenghua, Yinxian and Cixi. It is surrounded by mountains on all sides and the terrain is very dangerous. It has always been a place for military strategists. In December 1942, when more than 200 Japanese and puppet troops were concentrated in the three north area by the eastern Zhejiang Anti Japanese armed forces, they got into Liangnong, raped, burned and killed, extorted and oppressed the mountain people.
In order to crack down on the rampant arrogance of the enemy and the puppets, consolidate and develop the Anti Japanese base in eastern Zhejiang, the three North Anti Japanese guerrilla headquarters decided to attack Liangnong and pull out the Japanese puppet stronghold in the hinterland of Siming Mountain according to the principle of "adhering to the three North and opening up Siming" of the Party committee of eastern Zhejiang. On the evening of April 22, 1943, Bingfen Sanlu, the three North Anti Japanese guerrilla headquarters, rushed to attack Liangnong and started the famous battle of Liangnong. Liangnong battle lasted for 17 hours. With the support and cooperation of the local people, the Anti Japanese athletes bravely and tenaciously destroyed the puppet strongholds in Shizishan, minjiaoguan and Hengjie ancestral hall, forced the enemy to flee to Shangyu, and our army successfully recovered Liangnong. During the battle, more than 40 defenders were killed and more than 40 prisoners were captured. The victory of Liangnong battle further consolidated the Anti Japanese base area in eastern Zhejiang and effectively promoted the political power construction on both sides of Yaojiang River and Simingshan area. Soon, the Party committee of the eastern Zhejiang District of the Communist Party of China settled in Liangnong, and from then on Liangnong became the command center of the Anti Japanese base area in eastern Zhejiang.
In order to commemorate the revolutionary martyrs since the Anti Japanese War and carry forward the spirit of arduous struggle, Yuyao Municipal People's government took four years to build Siming Mountain revolutionary martyrs cemetery in lion mountain, Liangnong, in September 1977.
