Ice Pavilion
Located in Nanping Village, Anhui Province, Bingling pavilion was built in the middle of Qing Dynasty with a history of about 200 years.
Architectural features
Bingling Pavilion is composed of four parts: the entrance hall, the main hall, the side hall and the cloister. The wood and brick carvings are exquisite. The main hall "Huaide hall" is a five body Beaded structure with exquisite layout;
The gate is inlaid with white iron sheet, and hundreds of rivets are embedded into regular auspicious patterns. The nine storey brick gate building is the best witness of the traditional idea of "four two rooms" of ancient Huizhou merchants. No matter birds and animals, or flowers and plants, they all do their best to carve.
detailed information
Inside the gate is a small square courtyard, and on the right is a corridor, with a circular wooden arch opposite the main gate. The corridor is completely of wood structure, decorated with exquisite wood carvings with plum blossom and ice patterns. The meaning is that the fragrance of plum blossom comes from the bitter cold. As an old saying goes: Rome is not built in a day. Only when you eat bitterly can you be a master. Therefore, the host named this place "Bingling Pavilion".
The side hall is a two-story building with a wooden lotus door. The upper part of the lotus door is inlaid with glass. There are patterns of plum, orchid, bamboo, chrysanthemum, landscape, pine and cypress painted on the office. It is specially designed by the owner and imported from the west, showing the western style. On the "waist board" of the six lotus flowers downstairs, there are "ten sceneries of the West Lake": moon in Santan, warbler in LIULANG, wind and lotus in Quyuan, autumn moon in Pinghu, snow in broken bridge, spring dawn in SUDI, evening clock in Nanping, sunset in Leifeng, cloud arrangement in Shuangfeng, fish watching in Huagang, with fine carving and distinct layers.
Compared with the main hall, the cloister has a unique design. The winding path leads to seclusion, connecting the gate, the main hall and the side hall. The overall layout of the cloister is similar to that of the quadrangle in the north. Climbing up the narrow stairs behind the main hall, in the darkness and silence, there is always a warm creaking sound under the feet from time to time, which makes people wonder if they are going in the wrong time and space. Standing in the corridor on the second floor of pianting hall, you can have a panoramic view of the courtyard. Under the blue sky and white clouds, the continuous tiles and the undulating horse head wall look like a clean, soft and plain picture, as well as a continuous, gradual and staggered movement.
