Historical evolution
Historically, Haixin mountain is famous for producing "Longju", so it is called "Longju island". It is said that a good mare was set up in this mountain at that time. When it came to spring grazing, all the horses were pregnant. The foals they gave birth to were called Dragon breeds, so they were called "dragon foals".
During the Tuyuhun period, a group of fat mares were selected to drive into Haixin mountain for grazing when the lake was frozen in winter. In the spring of the next year, the sea dragon was allowed to mate with the mare. The "dragon foal" born by him could travel thousands of miles every day, chasing the wind month by month, and was extremely strong, so he was called "Qinghai Jun". Tuguhun people once got the improved grass horse from Persia, and also grazed on the Haixin mountain. They gave birth to the Dragon seed, which is extremely vigorous and healthy, and is called "Qinghai Oyster".
Emperor Yang of the Sui Dynasty once sent a special person to herding horses on the Haixin mountain in order to breed dragons. After Emperor Gaozong ascended the throne in the Tang Dynasty, nuohobo, king of Tuyuhun, was granted the title of Duwei of his son-in-law. Nuohobo selected a good horse from Qinghai to thank him. Ge Shuhan, a famous general of Tang Dynasty, once built Yinglong city in Haixin mountain. The descendants of Qinghai "Longju" are still all over the Qinghai Plateau today, which are the famous Hequ horse and Datong horse in China.

The main landscapes on the island are as follows:
Haixinshan Temple (Lotus nunnery)
Haixinshan temple is now called Lianhua temple. According to the old records, a sea temple was built in chahantuoluohai city (Haixin mountain), known as "Lingxian Qinghai Temple", which was built in the third year of Daoguang.
Since the Han Dynasty, temples have been built in Haixin mountain. The famous Tibetan Buddhist monk xiagaba living Buddha Zun the fifth Dalai Lama turned to Qinghai Lake to chant Buddhist scriptures, stayed in Shatuo at night, performed Buddhist rituals and prayed for the blessing of the sea god in the next morning. During the establishment of Shatuo temple, he practiced hard in Haixin mountain and finally became a generation of eminent monks. From then on, the monks of Shatuo Temple practiced the way of xiagaba living Buddha. Over the years, people went to Haixin mountain to practice the way, which has become the tradition of Shatuo temple. In 1909, the first year of Xuantong reign of the Qing Dynasty, Lin ad, a Belgian, sailed to Haixin mountain. At that time, there was a temple and more than 10 monks and nuns on Haixin mountain. From 1929 to 1942, under the arrangement of the fourth generation of qianhuyebutan and the fifth generation of qianhuhua treasure in Gangcha, sixteen statues, Gu Ri Mei te Ma, were successively built in Haixin mountain. Lianhuasheng No.8, Dabei Guanyin temple and other four temples. In 1943, qianhuhua treasure and GA Lidan, the master of Shatuo temple, jointly presided over the renovation of Dabei Guanyin temple. From 1952 to 1953, the masses in Gangcha area raised funds and invited ang Zhihai, a sculptor of Gangcha temple, and queben, a sculptor of zuoguan temple in Sichuan Province, to jointly create the giant statue of "wujianbaima" white Buddha. In 1953, during his practice in Haixin mountain, teden cheben built the 21dum pagoda temple.
After 1966, during the "Cultural Revolution", most of the buildings were destroyed by wind, sun and human activities. From 1989 to 1990, monks of jiaoshike temple in Gangcha county made lotus peanuts clay Buddha statues on the site of the ancient rimetema temple. Under the leadership of Jiayang jiancuo, the fifth guritan living Buddha, a Bodhi pagoda was built. Today, the maintenance of temples on Haixin mountain is still managed by Shatuo temple.
On the contemporary haixinshan Island, the lotus nunnery has a 30 meter high gold statue of the great master lianhuasheng. In addition, there are only a few simple huts in Lianhua nunnery, which stand alone on the sea mountain in the center of Qinghai Lake. However, it is still a school of Dharma.
Surrounded by water, Haixin mountain is far away from the world and is in a secluded place. Therefore, monks have practiced on the island long ago. As early as the Han Dynasty, there were temples on the island. The monks went out to sea for a year's food when they were in the ice. They did not return all year. This is similar to the contemporary situation. There are 7 nuns living in Lianhua nunnery all year round. The oldest is 53 years old, and the youngest is 15 years old. Get up at six every morning, meditate, meditate, lecture and study together. Only twice a year. Due to the sacred status of Haixin mountain in the minds of Tibetans and believers, it is said that one day of practice on Haixin mountain is equivalent to seven days of practice on earth. Therefore, believers will come to visit or go to the island to practice, or even close up for several months.
The life of Lianhua nunnery is very miserable. In the past, the funds of Lianhua nunnery were all raised by themselves. Haixin mountain is located in the center of Qinghai Lake, and visitors have to take a boat to get there. Haixin mountain belongs to China's National Nature Reserve, and cruise ships are not open to visitors, so visitors can't get there. This dilemma makes the survival of Lianhua nunnery difficult. Nuns in Lianhua nunnery can only maintain the most basic standard of living.
Stories and legends
It is said that a long time ago, Qinghai Lake area was a vast grassland. There is a splendid temple on the grassland. In this temple, there is an old monk with high morality and profound knowledge, leading hundreds of young monks to chant sutras and practice here.
One day, the old monk decided to travel around. Before leaving, he repeatedly told the young monks: don't touch the well in the temple. Young monks have said: please rest assured, master, after you leave, we will never act rashly.
After the old monk left, a naughty little monk thought: what is in the well that makes the master so worried? I might as well take this opportunity to have a look! So he took another young monk to the well, opened the seal on the flagstone, and removed the heavy flagstone. When you look down the well, you can see nothing. Just as he was about to move the slate back, he heard a loud bang from the well, and a huge water column gushed out, throwing the slate and the two little monks far away. The flood soon flooded the temple and the grassland, forming a vast ocean for hundreds of miles.
At this time, the old monk was talking about scriptures and Taoism in Kunlun mountain. Suddenly he felt his eyelids were jumping and his mind was restless. He stood up in a hurry and looked down the mountain. He saw that the water flooded the temple. In a hurry, he picked up some Kunlun stones and threw them to the temple.
The mouth of the well was blocked, but the water could not go back, forming the later Qinghai Lake; and the Kunlun stones that covered the mouth of the well became the Haixin mountain in the contemporary Qinghai Lake. However, the original grassland has become a vast ocean, and thousands of families around have been flooded. Later, people called Qinghai Lake "chixiu Jiemo", which means "the place where thousands of households disappeared", and Haixin mountain was called "the place where thousands of households disappeared"
