Located 22 kilometers west of Zhamu Town, Bomi County, with a total area of 4600 hectares. Among them, the forest area is more than 2800 hectares, and the forest coverage rate is more than 61%. The growth rate, continuous growth period and unit volume of forest in the reserve are much higher than those of similar forests at home and abroad, especially spruce. The area has high mountains, dense trees, towering ancient trees, frequent activities of rare wild animals, and rich in various kinds of precious Chinese medicinal materials. In 1984, it was designated as a forest ecosystem nature reserve mainly for the protection of high-yield coniferous forest.
Geography
The spruce forest in Gang Township, Bomi County, Linzhi city is located in the northeast of the great bend of Yarlung Zangbo River, 22 kilometers west of Bomi County, Tibet, and in the middle and lower reaches of PALONG Zangbo River. Palongzangbo passes through the mountains and dense forest sea from northeast to southwest, where the warm air flows northward to form abundant precipitation and mild climate, becoming one of the central areas of modern glacier development on the Qinghai Tibet Plateau, forming a rare marine glacier in China. Characteristics of Forest Region
Bomigang nature reserve covers a total area of 4600 hectares, with an altitude of about 2700 meters. Affected by the Indian Ocean southwest monsoon, the climate is mild and humid. The forest in the area is dense, with straight trunk and tall dark coniferous forest mainly composed of spruce and fir, and dense Fargesia growing under some dense forests, which is difficult to pass. Here, mountains and rivers are connected, ancient trees are all over the slope, and most of them are rare trees such as spruce and Pinus armandii. The spruce forest grows very orderly, with large and tall trees rising from the ground. It has a chest circumference of more than 4 to 5 meters and a height of about 80 meters. The standing stock per hectare can reach 3000 cubic meters, about three times that of the northeast forest region of China. The tree age is as high as 300-400 years, and the trunk wood of a single tree can reach more than 60 cubic meters. It is the most productive dark coniferous forest in the world so far.

Characteristics of spruce
Spruce is an evergreen tree. The crown of young tree is narrow and cone-shaped, while that of old tree is oval and cone-shaped. The leaves are grayish green, tetragonal, slightly curved and sickle shaped, with white stomatal lines and radioactive spiral arrangement on all sides. It is monoecious, with dark green scales of female cones, purple scales of male flowers at the beginning and yellow anthers at flowering; cones are cylindrical, drooping and mature, with open scales, seeds falling off and winged seeds.
Spruce wood is soft and light, straight texture, small section, easy to process, is a good building, bridge, box board and other materials. Spruce wood has good resonance performance and is widely used in musical instrument manufacturing.
