brief introduction
Built in 1665, the Temple belongs to Ningma school. It is said that there was an "OBO" here for sacrificing the mountain god for a long time. In 1653, the fifth Dalai Lama luosangjiacuo went to Beijing to meet the emperor Shunzhi. When he returned to Tibet, he passed through Qinghai Lake, where he held religious activities to pray for the protection of the sea god. Since then, Shatuo has become a religious shrine, attracting countless believers to worship Buddha. After that, a tent temple was formed here. After being managed by the eminent monk GA RI Dan of Tongde Langjia, Buddhism here became more prosperous. By 1941, a sutra hall was built on the basis of the original Russian Museum, covering an area of more than 400 square meters, with about 30 rooms, 300 monk houses and 130 monks. It has become a more influential Ningma temple in the area around the sea. The temple was originally decorated with cornices and painted buildings, ochre walls and incense ornaments. The roof is decorated with golden dragon and Sutra wheel. The Buddhist altar is surrounded by cigarettes day and night. In addition, the scenery of Qinghai Lake is quite spectacular. Before 1958, there were more than 120 monks, and the living Buddha gari presided over the affairs of the temple. After 1958, the temple was demolished, leaving only broken tiles and decaying walls. After the Northwest National Work Conference in 1962, the temple was reopened for a time, with 6 new sutras halls, 35 monks' houses, and some Buddhist statues, classics and commonly used tools purchased. It was closed for the second time in 1967. On July 5, 1981, it was approved to open again. In September 1982, a new Sutra hall with 25 rooms and 87 monk's houses was built on the site. The new Shatuo temple is still close to mountains and rivers. The gate of the temple is magnificent, and the buildings are carved with beams and painted columns. There are more than 6 mu of windbreak and sand fixation black thorn forest, about 3000 beads.
