Haishen temple, commonly known as miaoguan, is located in Haining City, Zhejiang Province. It is said that in March of the eighth year of Yongzheng reign of the Qing Dynasty, Li Wei, governor of Zhejiang Province, built the sea temple under the imperial edict. He built 40 mu of land in Chunxi gate. In November of the next year, the temple was built to worship the God of Zhejiang sea. During the Xianfeng Period, most of the buildings were destroyed by war. It was rebuilt in 1885. The existing stone square, stone lion, stone square, Qingcheng bridge, gate, main hall and imperial stele Pavilion still show the bearing of the royal governor.
When the sea temple was first built, the main hall was dedicated to Qian Liu, King Wu Su, and Wu Zixu, Duke Wu Yingwei. The main hall has a construction area of 546 square meters and a height of 20 meters. There are seven steps in four directions. The pillars, steps and stone railings are all made of white marble. The stone board is also carved with dragon, tiger, flower, bird, cloud and water patterns. Such a tall and exquisite palace with so many white marble as building materials can not be found in Zhejiang at least. The main hall was built in the form of Taihe Hall of the Forbidden City in Beijing.
