Recreation Square

Mother Gobi

The sculpture on the east side of the square is called "Gobi mother", also known as "frontier new movement", which is a monument built for women in Xinjiang production and Construction Corps. The overall height of the statue is 4.1 meters, of which the main body is 7 meters long, 1.7 meters wide and 2.8 meters high. The main body of the statue is three women and a baby boy made of copper. The mother in the middle, holding a baby, is the representative of Shandong and Hunan women who joined the Xinjiang production and Construction Corps in the early 1950s. In front of her side is a young girl with short hair. She is the representative of the educated youth in Shanghai, Beijing, Tianjin, Wuhan and other places who joined in the construction of the Corps in the 1960s. She is leisurely and quiet, looking forward to a bright future. The Uighur girl on the statue is the representative of Xinjiang minority. With her left hand on her right knee and her right hand gently on the ground, she sat peacefully behind her sister-in-law, enjoying the happiness of her family with her sister-in-law. The baby boy shows that there are successors in BINGTUAN's cause, which has been handed down from generation to generation.

General Wang Zhen

In the middle of the south end of the square is the statue "General Wang Zhen", which was built in September 1994 to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the founding of the Xinjiang production and Construction Corps. The main body of the statue faces north and is composed of a bronze statue of General Wang Zhen and a granite horse. The whole statue is 8.5 meters high. The base is engraved with four gold characters "General Wang Zhen" written by Deng Xiaoping. Shihezi Cultural Palace
