Today's city walls, crenels and women's walls are mostly restored in the 1990s.

Complete Gate Tower of Ming Dynasty
Dongmen tower in Liuzhou City, Guangxi Province, commonly known as "Donglou" and "dongmenlou", is located in the middle of Shuguang East Road, Chengzhong district. It is adjacent to Dongyi lane of Luochi road in the north and Liujiang River in the south. It was built in 1379 A.D. in the 12th year of Hongwu period of Ming Dynasty and has a history of more than 600 years.
As a well preserved Gate Tower of Ming Dynasty in Guangxi, the East Tower has been repaired many times. When it was first built, it was used to protect the city. In the first year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu (1875), it was rebuilt by a famous architect named Guo in Liuzhou.
The folk got it as a place to worship Guandi, which is called "Wudi Pavilion". There are statues of gods and temple wishes. Every new year's day, residents inside and outside the East Gate go upstairs to offer incense.
During the reign of Emperor Guangxu, Xie Youfu, a philanthropist in Dongmen street, invited local gentry and businessmen to gather money to set up a single sword fair. He set may 13 as the fair time to hold temple fairs, perform and drink, and purchase several real estate for rent collection. After the war of resistance against Japan, single sword will be suspended.
There is a stage under the city. In 1928, it was demolished and rebuilt into a telephone office building. In the 36th year of the Republic of China, Guangxi underground Party of the Communist Party of China took it as the place to print the Liuzhou edition of Guangxi daily.
Ancient architecture in South China
There are two stories above the gate. The circular column in the building has no bucket arch and directly supports the top of the floor. The beam frame structure is a hybrid structure of lifting beam type and crossing bucket type. The main beam is "nine frame beam". The eaves column supports the overhanging eaves purlin, and there is no ridge melon column. The flower plate is used to carry the load to the "three frame beam". The beam frame is decorated with flowers, insects, birds and animals, which is antique.
The top floor uses cantilever beam column as balance support, and its structure is ingenious and abnormal. On the ridge of the building, the Dragon kisses the beast, and the eaves fly in the corner.
Under the eaves of the main building, there was a horizontal tablet with black characters on a green background (destroyed during the Cultural Revolution) written by Qin Shengzu (named Qiwu), a Gongsheng in the sixth year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu. It is the same as the quotation of "lizeidui" in Ximen. The whole building is painted blue, implying that the East is green.
In the middle of the main hall, there is a long statue of Guan Yun. On both sides of the shrine, there is a seal of Guan Ping. Zhou Cang holds a standing statue of a knife. On the niche, there is a gold plaque with "Dao Mou Bi". There are two statues of Buddha on both sides of the shrine. On the top floor, there are twenty-eight wooden statues of gods. In the thirties of the reign of Emperor Guangxu, the statues were used by the telegraph office upstairs. The statues were moved to the front door downstairs. The front door is a Lema style gatehouse, and the clay figurines beside the incense table lead horses, which is quite a god horse.
Because the east gate tower adopts the double eaves roof with the top of the hill, the wooden structure system with the bucket, and the cornice with the angle. The shape of the angle is exquisite and heavy, so it has the characteristics of shallow eaves, simple and practical, simple and generous, and the stable and rigorous style of the architecture in Ming and Qing Dynasties, which reflects the superb construction technology and unique design skills at that time.
The style of this building is high and ancient, solemn and generous. It is the top of the five city buildings, rich in the characteristics of ancient buildings in the south. In 1991, the sand table model and the ancient fort of Mingcheng were added.
