Liuyuan
Liuyuan town is located in the northwest of Guazhou county (Anxi County), Dunhuang City in the west, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in the northwest, Xihu Township and Huancheng Township in the south, and Subei Mongolian Autonomous County in the northeast. Liuyuan originated from hongliuyuan, which is 8 kilometers southwest of Liuyuan. It is the name of a post station in ancient China. There is water in hongliuyuan, so the post station must rely on water. It is said that there was a piece of hongliuyuan at that time. The official who inspected the site named it hongliuyuan. Although the red willow is not a garden now, there are still many. The water of the red willow garden supplies the life and industry of Liuyuan town and plays a great role in the economic development of Liuyuan. In 1958, the railway went to Liuyuan, where the Ministry of Railways set up a station. It took the name of hongliuyuan, while Shehong took Liuyuan, which was Liuyuan railway station. When the town was built in 1962, it was officially named Liuyuan town.

Liuyuan town
Liuyuan town is located in Guazhou County, Jiuquan City, Gansu Province. It meets Jiayu Xiongguan in the East, Hami in Xinjiang in the west, Dunhuang in the South and MAZONGSHAN in Subei in the north. It is a land transportation hub connecting Gansu, Qinghai, Xinjiang and Tibet. Liuyuan town is a Gobi town which rose after the railway was opened to traffic on May 20, 1958. In 1960, it was approved by the people's Government of Gansu Province to set up a town level system. In 1986, it was changed into a sub County town, under the jurisdiction of Guazhou County, Jiuquan City, Gansu Province. Now it has two community neighborhood committees, 176 units of various types in Liuyuan, inhabiting Han, Hui, Mongolian, Tibetan and other ethnic groups. At the end of 2016, the population reached 14800, with no agricultural population.
