origin
The origin of zhuanlongzang place name can be traced back to the early Qing Dynasty. In the early years of Yongzheng, a Lama of tumed tribe, Alwan qulimu, came back from his studies in Tibet and traveled along the Yinshan Mountain. In the fourth year of Yongzheng (1726), he came to the right bank of the Botuo river. He saw that the trees were gloomy, the springs were gurgling, the environment was quiet and elegant, and the scenery was pleasant. So he "Hung Tin" here, built a temple for Buddha, burned incense and chanted sutras, and named this place "zhuanlongzang". The meaning of "Zhuan long Zang" is explained as follows in the Zhuan long Zang tablet in 1849 In Baozhen, there are zhuanlongzang and Shuiquan. Its water whirls and twists, like a dragon; while the water irrigates thousands of borders, and feeds thousands of families, which is the treasure and Yan. The ancient name is meant to be this. " The name of zhuanlongzang in Baotou is actually derived from Shuiquan. Another view is that "zhuanlongzang" should be "zhuanlunzang", which comes from Buddhism.
During the reign of Yongzheng and Qianlong, in addition to the migration of the northern Jin Dynasty, Xin, Gu, Shuo, Hequ, Wutai, Baode and other prefectures and counties, the migration of Fugu and Shenmu people in Shaanxi Province, and the increasing number of residents, the spread of Buddhism in western Inner Mongolia had a broad foundation. Therefore, there are many temples. In the 29th year of Daoguang reign, zhuanlongzang, a place of elegant scenery, founded Longquan Temple on the basis of the original Longwang temple.
Legend of zhuanlongzang
It is said that when Genghis Khan was on his way to the west, he passed through Jiufeng Mountain. When the army was on the March, he heard the sound of youyou deer coming from the front. He looked up and saw a sika deer looking at the army on the opposite hillside. This sika deer is generally strong, its spots are shining in the sun, and its horns are surprisingly large, just like two leafless Sanguisorba. Genghis Khan said to the general Mu Heli, I have seen many deer and hunted many deer, but I have never seen such a fierce sika deer. Muheli understood and ordered his followers to take the bow and arrow and hand it to Khan. Genghis Khan took the bow and arrow to shoot at the sika deer, but he didn't hit it. The arrow fell at the foot of the sika deer, but the sika deer was not surprised and didn't move. It didn't seem to see an arrow coming at all. Genghis Khan shot again, just as before, shot again, and the arrow fell to the same place, while the sika deer still held its head up and watched. Genghis Khan was very strange. He thought to himself, I have won every battle, I have shot every arrow, how can I not shoot a sika deer that is not far away today? So he whipped his horse and ran to the deer. When catching up with him, he was about to draw a bow and arrow, but the sika deer quickly ran away from the spot and ran westward. After a while, he stopped not far away and looked back. As long as Khan wanted to shoot, he would run. It was like playing a trick on Khan. After several turns, he could not catch up with him. Genghis Khan was even more strange. He thought that my god horse "saril", who has experienced many battles, can't catch up with a sika deer. Is it a God deer?
Besides, Genghis Khan's horse, which is a horse of choice, is called "saril" by the Mongolians. This horse has gone through many battles with its owner. It can be said that it travels thousands of miles a day and 800 miles at night, but today it can't catch up with a sika deer. At the moment, it is more anxious than its owner. It can't wait to raise its whip, but it has already raised its mane.
After turning a mountain bend, we came to a platform, which is the area around zhuanlongzang in Donghe District of Baotou city today. The sika deer ran into a forest. Genghis Khan immediately observed, only to see here pines and cypresses, grass high forest, like a fairyland on earth. Genghis Khan thought that the sika deer had run to such a fairyland like place. It must be a magic deer. I must catch it. He ordered his followers to put away their bows and arrows, encircle the forest, search the forest, and prepare to capture the sika deer alive. The sika deer flickered in the forest and disappeared after turning a big tree. Khan ordered his entourage to search carefully in the dense forest, but there was no sign of sika deer in the whole dense forest. He just heard the sound of youyou deer echoing in the forest. Genghis Khan thought, did the deer get under the naked tree? Looking back, I found that the naked tree had luxuriant branches and strong trunks, and several people couldn't get together. When we look closely again, the sunlight comes through the mottled branches of the tree, and we find that the shape of the tree is like a leaping deer! Khan was shocked, but he decided to find the deer, so he ordered the soldiers to dig up the tree. At the command, all the soldiers immediately excavated. Soon, the tree fell to the ground, but there was no sika deer. When the soil was removed, a square and shining bluestone slab was buried under the tree. The pattern of a sika deer appeared on the bluestone slab, which was the same as the Sika Deer. The pattern was clear, bright and vivid. The soldier reported Khan in a hurry. Khan exclaimed in his heart: it's really a deer! Blurted out: "baoketu, baoketu..."
Genghis Khan sighed with emotion: "it's God's will. The deer has come to light. This is really a treasure land of geomantic omen."
