Zhou Enlai of Qiuyan mountain is in danger in Qiuyan Valley, about 20 kilometers south of Yan'an City, next to national highway 210. On April 25, 1937, Zhou Enlai, then vice chairman of the CPC Central Committee, set out from Yan'an to Xi'an to prepare for a meeting with Chiang Kai Shek and continue to negotiate with the Kuomintang. His companions included Zhang Yunyi, deputy chief of staff Wen, former commander of the Red Army, Kong Shiquan, staff officer of the first Bureau of the Military Commission, Zeng Hongcai, confidential translator, and reporter Wu Tao Chen Youcai, an adjutant of the Yan'an garrison headquarters and Zhou Enlai's entourage, Chen Guoqiao, deputy platoon leader of the secret service of the Central Security Bureau, and a class of security soldiers. When passing Qiuyan mountain, he was attacked by more than 100 people, including bandit Li Qingwu. On the one hand, Chen Youcai and Chen Guoqiao organized soldiers to resist, and on the other hand, they covered Zhou Enlai and Zhang Yunyi to evacuate quickly. During the battle, more than ten people, such as Chen Youcai and Chen Guoqiao, died bravely. Zhou Enlai, Zhang Yunyi and Kong Shiquan escaped and returned to Yan'an. Later, the Red Army annihilated the bandits, and the bandit leader Li Qingwu was suppressed. Later, at the place where Zhou Enlai was in distress, a memorial stone tablet was erected by the people's Government of Ganquan County. On the front of the stone tablet, there was an inscription recording Zhou Enlai's distress, and on the back there was an inscription of martyrs.
