Development and construction
Phase I Project
The first phase of the project (captive breeding area) opened on May 24, 1998, with a planning area of 800000 square meters. It fully demonstrates the boundless charm of the combination of humanity and nature in the scenic forests, gardens and zoos.
At the end of 2005, some cage houses and safety facilities in the captive area were transformed, changing the cage display into a more popular glass curtain wall display in the zoo industry, adding guide maps, leisure seats, commercial pavilions and other sexual service facilities, improving the grade of the scenic spot and the viewing effect of tourists.
In 2009, a total of 400000 square meters of green space in Baiyun Yanshui and Xishan Range Rover were opened free of charge for citizens' fitness, further improving the leisure function of the captive park.
second-phase project
The second phase of the project (wild breeding area) was opened on September 12, 2000, with a planning area of 1 million square meters. Since 2006, it has been upgraded and transformed from bus tour to walking tour, and equipped with battery tour buses to meet the travel needs of different tourists.
In 2008, it invested more than 6 million yuan to build a new kangaroo garden and tourist service center in Australia, and rebuilt a small animal village and Flamingo exhibition area, creating good conditions for animal incubation and breeding.
In 2009, more than 8 million yuan was invested in the construction of happy primate Park, which is the most characteristic theme primate exhibition area in China, covering an area of 10000 square meters, displaying 22 species of rare primates, such as chimpanzees, golden monkeys, Oriental black and white colobus monkeys, and more than 150 animals.
In 2012, Dalian panda museum opened its park to receive visitors. Dalian panda Pavilion, with a planning land area of 8000 square meters and a building area of 2000 square meters, is divided into outdoor activity site, indoor activity site, logistics breeding area, indoor viewing corridor for tourists, outdoor viewing corridor, souvenir shop and other functional areas, where one male, two female and three national treasure giant pandas are raised and displayed. Because of its first-class construction scale and construction standards, Dalian panda pavilion has become the leading giant panda Pavilion in China and in line with international standards. It makes up for the lack of permanent and all-weather giant panda exhibition venues in Northeast China, and provides a detailed and comprehensive reference standard and basis for the construction of similar pavilions in China.
In 2013, on the basis of the original tropical rainforest Museum, taking advantage of its excellent indoor environment and temperature and humidity, it was transformed into a tropical rainforest reptile Museum. The design of the new tropical rainforest reptile Pavilion is based on the design experience of Singapore Zoo, Hong Kong Ocean Park, Thailand's Ratha dragon and Tiger Park and the two climbing pavilions of the leading zoos in China. On the basis of not destroying the original vegetation and environment, it is made of wood plastic stone, toughened laminated glass and other materials according to the terrain. More than 30 species and nearly 100 individuals of two reptiles, Siamese crocodile, golden python, red tailed lizard, reticulated python, corn snake, California king snake, brown black snake, yadara elephant turtle, sukada tortoise, yellow edge box turtle, Burmese tortoise, red legged tortoise, Argentinean black-and-white tiger lizard, mangrove giant lizard, chameleon, bluetongue lizard and maned lion lizard, are exhibited.
Historical evolution
In November 1945, Dalian municipal government changed the name of "Xiaocun Park" (the former Electric Park) during the Japanese puppet period to "Dalian Cultural Park". In early 1947, it changed "Cultural Park" to "Lu Xun Park".
On October 19, 1948, the first bronze statue of Lu Xun in China was completed in Dalian Lu Xun Park.
Bear Mountain was built in 1957.
In May 1964, elephants in Beijing zoo were first displayed in Lu Xun Park.
In September 1966, the bronze statue of Lu Xun was moved to Dalian Nanshan Park, and the "Lu Xun Park" was officially renamed "Dalian zoo".

On May 24, 1997, Dalian Forest Zoo officially opened and held a grand opening ceremony.
