Haitian Temple

Haitian temple is located in the east of Taicang City, south of the exit of Shenhai highway s339 / Liuhe / Taicang. The name of the temple originates from "the sea shakes the edge of the sky, the ceiling blows, the Zen side wind is good, and the temple emperor slab bridge opens". It covers an area of more than 100 mu. It has the Shanmen hall, the emperor's hall, the main hall and the dizang Pavilion.

brief introduction

The predecessor of Haitian temple is commonly known as "red temple". Since the temple was founded by Hongguang xianrui and its founder Chen Dan, it is called Hongmiao because of its nickname "Honglian Ren". We're used to it.

The red temple is located outside the Dadongmen gate of Taicang City. According to legend, it was built in the Three Kingdoms period (238-251) during the chiwu reign of Sun Wu. It was donated by Chen Dan (known as "red face") who was a big merchant in Taicang who often led the fleet to sail to sea. Since then, it has been built in all dynasties and gradually expanded in scale. During the Xuande period of Ming Dynasty (1426-1435), it reached its heyday, covering an area of 100 mu, with six halls, six halls, four floors and three pavilions, and more than 100 houses. There are no less than 100 permanent monks with strong fragrance. The radiation area is not only 24 mu of the whole county, but also as far as the four prefectures and eighteen counties (the four prefectures are Jiangbei Tongzhou, Jiangnan Suzhou, Songjiang, Jiaxing, etc.).

The Yangtze River estuary is under attack. It is said that Han Shizhong, a famous general of the Southern Song Dynasty, defeated Jin Bing here. Zheng He, a famous navigator in the Ming Dynasty, made seven voyages to the West and set sail here. Li Zicheng, the loyal king of the Taiping Heavenly Kingdom, fought against the Qing army here and won the great victory of Banqiao. Because of its unique geographical location, the red temple was destroyed in the cultural revolution.

In 1992, with the approval of the government, a new type of ancient temple was built in the east of the original site of the red temple. The temple was the main body of the temple, engaged in Buddhist research, carried forward the oriental culture, and integrated the temple, Academy, elderly care home and tourist attractions. In April 1994, Mr. Su yuanlei, a professor of East China Normal University and more than 80 years old, visited the red temple under construction. He wrote down the origin of "the sea is green, the sky is shining, the moon is shining, and the temple is beside the Banqiao". He named it Haitian temple.

After eight years of hard work, the temple has begun to take shape. It has built a free life pool, a Bodhi bridge, a Jiuqu corridor, a 500 arhat hall, and a three treasure building. At the end of 2000, Suzhou Buddhist Association invited master Hongfa to be the director of Haitian Temple Committee, and master Hongcheng to be the deputy director of Haitian Temple Committee. At present, the main buildings such as DAPAI building, Shanmen hall, Tianwang hall, Guanyin hall, dizang hall and Daxiong hall have been built. In addition, the pagoda of Ten Thousand Buddhas, Abbot's building, monk's house and sanyangyuan have been built, and the temple landscape has been beautified and afforested.

Today's Haitian temple covers an area of more than 100 mu, with superior geographical environment. It is close to the expressway along the Yangtze River, the Yangtze River in the East, national highway 204 in the west, Suzhou Kunming Taiyuan Expressway in the north and metropolis Shanghai in the south. It is not far from Kunshan, Suzhou, Wuxi and other cities. It can be said that the room has convenient transportation, abundant resources, thousands of businessmen and talents. With its beautiful landscape and unique cultural connotation, Haitian temple has attracted countless tourists and pilgrims to burn incense and worship Buddha, or to practice Zen and relax, or to keep the heavenly year.
