Historical evolution
On March 6, 1956, the people's Committee of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region held a meeting and decided to establish the Preparatory Committee of Inner Mongolia University. Wu Lanfu, vice premier of the State Council, first Secretary of the Party committee of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region and chairman of the people's Committee of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, served as the chairman of the Preparatory Committee.
On October 7, 1957, the first opening ceremony for students was held. 154 teachers and 340 freshmen from colleges and universities inside and outside the district attended the opening ceremony. On the 14th of the same month, the school held a ceremony for its establishment.
On May 22, 1959, the School Council decided to merge the Mongolian language department and the Chinese Language Department into the Chinese language and Literature Department, with two majors of Mongolian language and literature and Chinese language and literature.
In January 1960, the Inner Mongolia Branch of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Inner Mongolia University jointly worked and finally merged into Inner Mongolia University.
In 1962, the Ministry of higher education of the people's Republic of China gave the Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region Three postgraduate training indicators, two of which were given to the Mongolian language discipline of Inner Mongolia University, with associate professor qinggeertai as the tutor.
In September 1964, Inner Mongolia University established the second division of Science (now the Research Institute of neighboring countries); on November 13 of the same year, the so-called "uncover the cover of class struggle" campaign was launched among teachers and students. By the middle of December, we will focus on individual teachers.
On July 20, 1965, the Department of history and the teaching and Research Office of Marxism Leninism merged to form the Department of political history, which consists of two teaching and research offices of theory and history and the Research Office of Mongolian history.
In June 1966, the "Cultural Revolution" began. At the beginning of this month, the first big character newspapers were posted. The work of the school has come to a standstill. On August 9 of the same year, the Preparatory Committee for the cultural revolution of Inner Mongolia University was set up, which actually controlled the power of the University. On August 13, departments set up cultural revolution groups.
On April 13, 1967, the original "Revolutionary Committee" of the school collapsed, and the power was transferred to the "neida Jinggangshan corps" of the third division of the school. In the same year, workers' and PLA propaganda teams of Mao Zedong Thought successively entered the school.
On April 18, 1968, the Revolutionary Committee of Inner Mongolia University was established; on October 9, 1968, all departments of Inner Mongolia University were organized according to the military training company, and they had jurisdiction over platoons and classes.
In 1972, the Mongolian history research office was separated from the Department of political history and directly under the school.
In the autumn of 1973, on the basis of recruiting pilot classes in 1971, the school began to recruit three-year workers, peasants and soldiers.
On December 2, 1977, the publicity team withdrew from the school.
On February 17, 1978, the University was identified as one of the first batch of 88 key universities in China; on July 1, 1978, the University abolished the reform committee and department leading group, abolished the "three departments and one room" of the University, and established the president's office, personnel department, general Affairs Department, academic affairs department, scientific research department, equipment department, security department, Party committee office, organization department, propaganda department, United Front Work Department and Armed Forces Department; in September, the University's Department of economics, Department of foreign languages (English Major), Department of electronic engineering began to recruit new students. In the same year, postgraduate enrollment was resumed.
In April 1979, the University and the Chinese Academy of Sciences jointly established the Inner Mongolia grassland system research station in Xilinguole; in September of the same year, the Japanese major of the foreign language department enrolled students for the first time.
In 1980, the people's Government of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region officially approved the establishment of the Department of law, and planned to recruit students in 1982. In the same year, the school began to recruit minority preparatory students.
In 1981, the University obtained the right to confer master's degree in eight disciplines.
In August 1982, the newly established law department began to recruit the first class of students. In the same year, the Research Office of Mongolian history was changed into the Research Institute of Mongolian history.
In January 1984, the University became a doctoral degree awarding unit, with two disciplines and specialties as the doctoral degree awarding points.
On March 25, 1985, the night University of Inner Mongolia University (specialized in management cadres and experimental technology) started classes; on June 17, 1985, the Party committee of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region decided to implement the pilot of president responsibility system; in September, the University carried out the pilot work of recommending fresh outstanding undergraduate graduates to study for master's degree without examination.
In April 1987, the Art College of Inner Mongolia University was established, and the former Inner Mongolia Art School continued to be retained as an affiliated technical secondary school.
On October 15, 1988, the school established the Department of computer science.
On June 20, 1990, the school set up the Party committee security department and the student affairs department; on October 31, 1990, the school's leadership system was changed from the principal responsibility system to the principal responsibility system under the leadership of the Party committee; on November 20, the school had three disciplines with the right to confer doctoral degrees.
On September 3, 1991, the Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council officially approved that 15 master's degree programs of the University have the right to grant in-service personnel the right to apply for master's degree with the same academic level.
In February 1992, the discipline of Mongolian language and literature was listed as a key discipline of national colleges and universities; on August 24 of the same year, "Inner Mongolia bioengineering center" was established; on the same day, the University became a university with the right to recommend excellent fresh undergraduate graduates as master students.
In January 1994, the "Mongolian literature and information center of ethnic subjects of the State Education Commission" was established; in April of the same year, six new master's degree authorization points were added. In the same year, the University became a unit that could independently organize the entrance examination for postgraduates studying for master's degree.
On December 11, 1995, the College of life sciences, the Academy of Mongolian studies, the College of economics and the College of continuing education were established.
In 1996, the school cancelled the self funded students and the entrusted students, and all implemented the combined enrollment.
On January 22, 1997, the "cultural quality education base for college students in Inner Mongolia" jointly declared by Inner Mongolia University, Inner Mongolia University of technology and Inner Mongolia Agricultural University became the national cultural quality education base for college students; on June 6 of the same year, the school of computer science jointly established by the Department of computer science and the computing center of Inner Mongolia Ancient Science Commission was established; on July 8, the former Department of Chinese language and the Department of history were established On November 26, the State Planning Commission officially approved the establishment of the "211 Project"; on December 12, the Mongolian Culture Research Institute, the Research Institute of neighboring countries and the Mongolian language and character processing research center were established.
On October 7, 1999, the College of science and technology was composed of the original Department of mathematics, Department of physics, Department of electronics and the newly established Department of automation; on November 29, 1999, the "Institute of polymer science of Inner Mongolia University" and "Key Laboratory of polymer synthesis of colleges and Universities in Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region" were officially registered.
On March 17, 2000, Hohhot Jiaotong school was merged into Inner Mongolia University to establish the vocational and Technical College of Inner Mongolia University; on October 18, 2000, Hohhot Jiaotong school obtained MBA degree authorization points; in December, Hohhot Jiaotong school obtained 10 master degree authorization points.
In 2001, the University was approved three mobile stations for postdoctoral research.
On January 9, 2002, the University established the school of public administration and abolished the teaching and Research Department of Marxism Leninism; on January 18, 2002, the University was awarded two national key disciplines; on April 8, the journalism department and Tourism Department of the University of humanities were established; on June 6, the MBA Education Center was unveiled; on July 25, the "national life science and technology talent training base" was established.
On June 20, 2003, the International Institute of education was inaugurated; on September 9, 2003, the University was approved as the pilot unit of MPa.
In 2004, the University became a University jointly built by the province (region) and ministry.
In March 2005, the University became a postgraduate training unit for master of law, with the right to grant master's degree to university teachers; in the same month, Inner Mongolia Agricultural School was integrated into Inner Mongolia University as a whole; in April, the University established a school of software and worked together with the school of computer science.
On March 13, 2007, the University became one of the third batch of Sci-tech Novelty Search workstations at the ministerial level of the Ministry of education; on May 11, 2007, the University signed an agreement with the Bureau of cultural relics of the autonomous region on cooperation in training postgraduates of cultural relics; on June 25, the School of Ethnology and sociology was established.
On March 5, 2008, the University adjusted its organization, abolished the College of science and Technology (except the Department of Communications) and the College of humanities, and established the College of Mathematical Sciences, the College of physical science and technology, the College of electronic information engineering, the College of literature and journalism, the College of history and culture, and the College of philosophy. On June 30 of the same year, Manzhouli college was established.
On February 28, 2009, the South Campus of the University was officially opened; on August 19, 2009, the school of environment and resources was unveiled; on September 29, the post doctoral research mobile station of history was approved to set up.
On March 3, 2011, the university added 5 first-class disciplines authorized by doctor's degree and 11 first-class disciplines authorized by master's degree.
On November 6, 2012, the University was selected into the national "comprehensive strength improvement project of universities in central and Western China".
On July 8, 2013, the University was selected as the first batch of universities to study in China by the Ministry of education.
