Xinhui academy is located at No.42 Jiefang Road, Nanning City, facing south. It was built by people in Xinhui County, Guangdong Province. It was first built in the early years of Qianlong of Qing Dynasty and rebuilt in the 23rd year of Daoguang (1843). The current site is 55 meters long and 20 meters wide. It has three halls, two corridors and one Pavilion, and the existing three halls and two corridors. It is the best preserved ancient architecture in Nanning city. It is listed as a cultural relic protection unit at the autonomous region level.

Xinhui academy, also known as "Heyi academy", is not a traditional academy building, but a Lingnan ancestral hall building of wood, stone, brick and tile structure in the late Qing Dynasty. Because its original address was yamen of Xinhui County, which was "selected by the National Teachers of the previous dynasty" and Fengshui family was "Shangji zhaichang", it was selected here. The building faces north to South with symmetrical central axis and rectangular plane. It is divided into Lingnan ancestral hall building and Western style building in the back seat. It has four buildings, four walls and gardens in front and behind. It covers an area of 10000 square meters. The original building area is 5400 square meters, and the existing building area is 4500 square meters. The main building is 49.24 meters wide and 88.07 meters deep, with three entrances. The plane structure of each entrance hall is 16 columns, with five rooms wide and three rooms deep, each with the same width. On the other two sides, there is a three entrance hall, with a total of seven rooms. The two corridors run through the courtyard, and each entrance is separated by a patio. The courtyard is deep, forming a grand courtyard that is open to the inside and closed to the outside. Lin Hu, a famous overseas Chinese architect of Xinhui, was responsible for the design of the architectural plan of the Academy. He had undertaken the construction of Wanguo bank in Shamian, Guangzhou and Zhongshan Memorial Hall in Wuzhou, and was familiar with Chinese and Western architectural styles. The construction of the Academy started in 1920, the main ancestral hall was completed in 1923, and the western style building in the back seat was completed in 1927. Its scale is second only to Guangzhou Chenjiaci (covering a total area of 15000 square meters). In the mid-1980s, the famous film "Sun Yat Sen" crew went to Xinhui academy to shoot.

The college has a rectangular plan, which is divided into three halls: the front, the middle and the back. The halls are separated by patios, and corridors are set on both sides of the rear well. The layout is rigorous and the lighting is sufficient. The width of the hall is 14.2 meters, the total depth is 55.2 meters, and the height of each hall is 9 meters

The front hall was rebuilt in 1932 because the road was widened. In 1982, the roof ridge tiles were demolished and rebuilt in 1987.

The depth of the middle hall is 14.5 meters, the granite platform is 0.8 meters higher than the front hall, the steps are 5 steps, the stone cornice columns, the beam type roof truss, and the rolling shed in front. The purlin beam is separated by kedou arch, which is compact in structure and exquisite in carving.

The structure of the back hall is basically the same as that of the middle hall, with no brackets on the beam frame and walls on three sides. The granite platform foundation is 0.9 meters higher than the central hall, with 7 steps and drum stones on both sides. The corridors between the central hall and the back hall are also made of stone pillars and glazed tile roofs. The whole academy building layout is compact, high and low scattered, solemn and elegant, with Lingnan ancient architecture light and beautiful style.

According to the literature, in the pre Qing Dynasty, business was flourishing in Nanning, and business groups from all provinces gathered together, and local Guildhall was set up as a place for business and local gathering and discussion. Xinhui academy is one of the famous guildhalls, which was built by Guangdong new members living in Nanning. The guild hall was built in the early years of Qianlong and rebuilt in the 23rd year of Daoguang.

At that time, the busiest xicangmen street in Nanning was near this old house. Every morning when the market opens, every shop opens its wooden door and goes to the neighborhood by the Yongjiang River to greet each other. Rich businessmen from Guangdong gather here for tea and business. Xinhui academy, as the only existing Qing Dynasty guild hall in Nanning, witnessed the prosperity of Nanning business in the pre Qing Dynasty and Jiefang Road as the commercial center of old Nanning. From another point of view, Xinhui academy is also the product of frequent business activities and economic development of Nanning in Qing Dynasty. It has important historical value for the study of economic and cultural exchanges between Nanning and Guangxi in Qing Dynasty, Guangdong and southwest China.

Now, after two renovations, Xinhui academy has become the cultural exhibition site of Yong opera and a paradise for drama lovers. Every weekend, good plays will be staged. Exquisite costumes and headgear are displayed in the window with detailed descriptions. Even if they are not opera lovers, they can easily be infected by the cultural atmosphere of drama.
