history
South Street has a long history. It was built in Yuan Dynasty and became in Ming Dynasty. In the Yuan Dynasty, the Jin people invaded the south. Because the people of Fujian, Guangdong and Jiangxi avoided the war and were optimistic about the business environment of Pennsylvania, the market was built here and became the rudiment of the South Street. In the sixth year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1373), Zhou Le, the governor of the state, planned to build a bridge (South Bridge) in the north of the street, which was directly connected to the state government and convenient for travel. The street was expanded. The name of South Bridge was probably built outside the South Gate of the city of Pennsylvania. Because the South Gate of the city was also called Taiping gate, the south bridge was also called Taiping Bridge. It was also said that at that time, the government was harmonious and the people were in peace and prosperity, and the parties were whitewashing Taiping, so it was called Taiping Bridge Bridge. In the seventh year of Yongle (1409), Nanshi was expanded. From the Qing Dynasty to the Republic of China, merchants and Jia Yun gathered, and the economy and trade flourished. Nanjie was expanded continuously, which became the scale of today.
Characteristic scenic spots
Nanqiao
Nanqiao, also known as Taiping Bridge, located at the north end of Nanjie street, was built in 1373. It is one of the oldest existing stone bridges in Binyang County. Nanqiao was built in the sixth year of Hongwu in the Ming Dynasty (1373), with a history of more than 600 years. Located in the north of the street, it is called Nanqiao. Because it is located in the South Gate of Zhoucheng, the South Gate of Zhoucheng is called Taiping gate, so some people call Nanqiao Taiping Bridge. During the reign of Chongzhen, the bridge was destroyed. At that time, Qian Jizhong was the governor of the state. He was "like a vegetable, clothed in cloth, lived as an official at home, and loved the people like a son". Together with his subordinates, he mobilized the people to donate money, hired craftsmen, and repaired it, which was completed in three months. In May of 1734, the bridge collapsed again, and Mapu, the governor of the state, generously donated money to repair it. In this way, the south bridge has been built several times, gone through the vicissitudes, and has been preserved to this day.
The South Bridge is 24.5 meters long, 5.2 meters wide and 6 meters high, all made of stone. Open three arch holes, each arch is 6 meters long, and the river flows from west to East. The road on the bridge is paved with smooth stones. On both sides of the bridge, 13 stone columns with a height of 0.8 meters and 14 rectangular stone slabs with a height of 0.6 meters form the bridge railing. Each of the 28 stone slabs on both sides is carved with an exquisite relief pattern. There are such patterns as double dragons playing with pearls, double phoenixes playing with Chaoyang, mandarin ducks playing with lotus, Qilin playing with jade, carp leaping over the dragon's gate, monkey picking peaches and so on, as well as flowers, birds, insects, fish, deer, horses, cattle and so on, which are lifelike and lifelike. The two piers in the middle are inlaid with a pair of stone carved male and female marsupials. The male and female marsupials live on one pier respectively. They go upstream and cross the bridge. According to experts, this is the first time in China. The whole stone bridge is thick and solid, with exquisite decoration and carving technology and vivid patterns. Under the bridge, the Baoshui river flows by with green bamboos. During the Ming and Qing Dynasties, the Baoshui River, with its banks of peach blossom and willow green, and the south bridge across it, became the top of the eight scenic spots in Binyang. At that time, knowing that Zhouliang fish saw this, the poem was very prosperous, and wrote: "the precious water circulates for thousands of feet, and the spring comes to clear waves; the gull sleeps in the fine sand according to the fisherman, and the fish chews the falling flowers and blows the waves; the snow turns white, and the spring water rushes, and the green water dips into the weeping poplar, and the night rises; why should I wash my arms, and Li Shu will return to the banquet." This is a poem singing "spring waves of precious water".
