Tukai desert is located 7 km southwest of Huocheng County, 43 ° 55 ′ 18 ″ ~ 44 ° 01 ′ 28 ″ n, 80 ° 43 ′ 47 ″ ~ 80 ° 51 ′ 18 ″ e, covering an area of 130000 mu. It is located in the area surrounded by Langan Township, Huiyuan Town, Sandao Township and Yili River. It is a young desert with quasi fixed and semi fixed sand dunes as the main body and local flow. It is the only oasis desert in Xinjiang.

There are 42 families and 153 species of wild plants in tukai desert, including Compositae, Liliaceae, Leguminosae, Ephedraceae, arnebiaceae, Gramineae, Moraceae, Cruciferae and psammophilaceae.

There are many wild animals, such as silver rat, wild cat, sand rabbit, sand rat, snake, earthworm, pheasant, duck, sand chicken, oil gourd, pigeon, lark hawk and so on.

bus line

Take No.2 bus to sandaohe from the North intersection Road East of Huocheng bus station and get off at 1.5 yuan per person. Walk south to enter tukai desert. You can also get off at Sha Menkou and cross from west to East. This useful track costs 2.5 yuan per person. The track in the desert is 20 kilometers long and takes about 2-3 hours to cross on foot.

On January 30, 2010, the first "tukai desert hiking cross country race" was held in tukai desert scenic spot of Huocheng county. On the morning of February 26, 2011, the first "Longgong Cup" SUV Invitational race across tukai desert in Xinjiang in 2011 started.

environmental effect

Because of the influence of tukai desert, the farmland of tukai county is eroded by desertification and harmed by drought and dry hot wind every year, which seriously affects people's production, life and ecological environment.

To speed up the comprehensive management of tukai desert in Huocheng County, since the implementation of the key public welfare forest afforestation project in 2006, the county has planted 20000 mu in the key public welfare forest area of tukai desert, and solved the problem of water source by drilling motor wells (two eyes) to implement sprinkler irrigation project. The installation of motor well and sprinkler irrigation facilities has been completed and passed the completion acceptance.

Relevant information

Someone once described the tukai desert as "a drop of melancholy tears from heaven, inadvertently dripping into the vast expanse of green". It's a tear because the desert in the oasis is so rare.
