Hengyang Museum
Hengyang museum was founded in 1973, formerly known as Hengyang exhibition hall. The area of the museum is small and the house is old and dilapidated. In 1992, with the concern and support of Hengyang municipal government and all walks of life, Hengyang Museum moved to the picturesque West Lake Park. There are luxuriant trees and beautiful environment. There are two office buildings (including cultural relics storehouse) and exhibition hall. The office building is a six story brick concrete structure; the exhibition hall is a two-story quadrangle brick concrete structure. The building has the typical characteristics of southern Hunan residential buildings, with glass and green tiles, wind sealed Gables, simple and elegant.

Hengyang museum is a local comprehensive museum, with a collection of 20000 historical relics, of which more than 1000 are precious, including national treasures. Many historical relics have been exhibited in more than 20 countries. With cultural relics exhibition hall, temporary exhibition hall, electric classroom, central warehouse, reception room, reference room and office, it is the window unit of Hengyang spiritual civilization construction and an important patriotic education base. Hengyang Museum opened, holding a collection of treasures display, national defense education exhibition, rich in content, new art forms, intuitive and visual display of Hengyang five thousand years of civilization.
Organization setup
At present, there are 36 staff in the library, 8 retirees, 28 staff with college education level or above, 26 professional and technical staff, 10 technical workers, including 1 senior professional title. There are four leaders in the museum, including office, storage department, security department, exhibition department, group work department and research room.
Development history
Hengyang museum is a national key Museum, covering an area of more than 5000 square meters. Since its establishment in 1973, through archaeological excavation and social collection, it has collected more than 35000 cultural relics, photos, books and documents at all levels. The total number of cultural relics in the collection is 14499, including 66 sets of first-class cultural relics, 182 sets of second-class cultural relics and 2052 sets of third-class cultural relics. Among these cultural relics, the most distinctive features are bronze ware of Shang and Zhou dynasties, calligraphy and paintings in Ming and Qing Dynasties, painted pottery on Heng Mountain kiln powder and textile costumes of Ming Dynasty. Among the bronzes of the Shang and Zhou dynasties, there are national treasure level cultural relics, such as the animal pattern of the spring and Autumn period, the bronze ox statue in the shape of a lantern, the painting and calligraphy works of Xiao Yuncong of the Ming Dynasty, the green glazed granary painted on Hengshan kiln powder, and the textile cultural relics, such as the jacquard forged lion pattern patchwork. As for other kinds of cultural relics with characteristics, they have attracted attention at home and abroad for their large quantity, complete variety, fine modeling and beautiful decorative patterns.
Hengyang museum is the base of patriotism education and youth moral education. There are 7 exhibition halls in the museum, with an area of 7260 square meters. The basic display is "collection of cultural relics exhibition" (all kinds of cultural relics have special exhibitions, which are changed from time to time). In addition, more than 10 temporary exhibitions with rich contents and different styles are held every year.
The basic tenet of Hengyang museum is to welcome visitors from all over the world with first-class service level, and to publicize Chinese culture and Hengyang local culture with all kinds of exquisite historical relics. Since its establishment in 1973, Hengyang Museum has received more than 500000 visitors from home and abroad.
There are five exhibitions in Hengyang Museum, including exhibition of bronzes in collection, exhibition of ceramic treasures in collection, miscellaneous exhibition of collection technology, Huxiang celebrity painting and calligraphy exhibition and Huxiang culture exhibition.

Bronze display
There are more than 100 pieces of cultural relics from Shang and Zhou Dynasties to Ming and Qing Dynasties on display, including ritual weapons, weapons, measuring instruments and various living utensils used by the ancients in daily life. It is the most vivid teaching material to study and understand the ancestors of Hengyang in this land. It is also the best material to study the mutual survival and integration of Chu and Yue cultures in Hengyang at that time. Such as the national treasure animal pattern bronze Ti Liang you, Yue style Ding, Chu style bronze sword and so on. More than 90 pieces of bronze products are displayed in the 180 square meter exhibition room. Among them, spring and autumn animal pattern is the most attractive. The bronze ox Zun of Shang Dynasty, which is comparable to it, is exquisite and magnificent.
Exhibition of painting and calligraphy works
It gathers the works of famous artists since Ming and Qing Dynasties, and shows the artistic achievements of Hengyang local calligraphers and painters. Among them, Xiao Yunchu, a leading calligrapher, wrote a long volume of the painting of 72 peaks of Nanyue, and Zeng Xi, a giant calligrapher, wrote a collection of four styles of calligraphy. These treasures of calligraphy and painting are undoubtedly dedicated to the audience for an elegant artistic enjoyment. Hengyang municipal Party committee and government launched a masterpiece in September 2007 in order to create a national excellent tourism city, fully display Hengyang's profound cultural heritage and build Hengyang's famous historical and cultural city brand. The exhibition makes use of Fengxuan's historical and cultural relics and literature materials to carry out scientific research, and combines modern science and technology with traditional crafts to fully show the "Huxiang culture" which enjoys high reputation and attracts people's attention in the whole country to the audience, which greatly enriches the connotation of the exhibition and improves the level of the exhibition. The exhibition is divided into four exhibition areas and five major parts. With 478 pictures, hundreds of precious cultural relics and 18 Works of art in 5 groups, the exhibition adopts various exhibition techniques, such as three-dimensional, plane and so on. Taking the origin, development and practice of Huxiang culture as the main vein, it creates the best scene for the audience to fully understand the historical connotation of Huxiang culture.
Display of Jiediao works
More than 40 works on display in the museum are excellent works of Mr. Zhang Ying who has worked in the forest area and cultivated in the art sea for decades. The author "turns decay into magic" and endows the useless tree bumps with vivid images and rich connotations, so that people can enjoy beauty from them.
Ceramic display
More than 300 pieces of cultural relics of various textures and categories from the Neolithic Age to the late Qing Dynasty and the early Republic of China are on display. In the part of ceramics, there are practical utensils for daily life, ornamental utensils for furnishings and burial utensils. From the origin of kiln, there are Ge kiln, Longquan kiln, Cizhou kiln, Jian kiln, Changsha kiln, Hengyang kiln, Hengshan kiln, etc. In terms of technology, there are wheel system, plastic pile, decal, engraving, die printing and various glaze colors. Miscellaneous parts of the craft are all inclusive, with a wide range of stone tools, lacquerware, bone ware, bamboo and wood carving, and various kinds of metal ware. There are not only the four treasures of study used by celebrities, but also the daily necessities of ordinary people. The exhibition of the museum is divided into three parts: tombs, cellar excavation, kiln excavation and handed down porcelain. Among them, there are ceramics before Qin and Han Dynasties, porcelains of Wei and Jin Dynasties, products of jiangjiaci kiln and Hengshan kiln in the city, as well as a wide range of excellent utensils handed down from generation to generation. It can be said that it not only provides a platform for the audience to appreciate and understand the customs and habits, aesthetic taste of the ancestors of the past dynasties, as well as the technological development level at that time, but also provides an important learning platform for some collectors.
