In May 1946, Northeastern University moved back to Shenyang. In November 1948, the fifth enlarged board meeting of North Sichuan Institute of agriculture and technology decided to change it to "private North Sichuan University".
In 1949, the address of the University was moved from Santai County to Nanchong City and changed to private North Sichuan University.
In July 1950, private North Sichuan University and private North Sichuan College of Arts merged to form a public North Sichuan University. In September, the public North Sichuan University was renamed North Sichuan University and moved to Nanchong City, Sichuan Province.
In 1950, Hu Yaobang, then director of the North Sichuan administrative office, visited North Sichuan University.
In February 1951, China Rural Construction College changed its name to East Sichuan Education College.
Sichuan Normal University
On November 11, 1952, according to the spirit of the national college adjustment, the southwest ministry of culture and Education decided to change the name of North Sichuan University to Sichuan Normal University. Based on the major of Arts and Science in North Sichuan University, Sichuan Normal University was established by merging the East Sichuan Institute of education, the normal college of Sichuan University, the Chinese language and literature department and History Department of West China University and relevant teachers. The engineering major of North Sichuan University was merged into Southwest Agricultural University and other universities. In 1953, two-year Chinese majors and one-year mathematics majors from the Chinese Department of Chongqing Normal University were transferred to Sichuan Normal University.
In 1956, the branch school of the University was relocated, of which the undergraduate major was moved to Shizishan, Chengdu, and the name of the University was Sichuan Normal University. Sichuan Normal University was published in March 1974.
