Baicaoping

Baicaoping is one of the plateau grasslands with the highest altitude in Guizhou. Most of the morning here is covered by fog, which is not thick, but gives people a kind of illusory and ethereal feeling. Walking on the green grassland is dotted with rotating windmills. In the distance, there are cattle walking slowly or eating grass with their heads down. It's like walking close to the same fairy tale world.

The average annual temperature is 9.5 ℃, the annual accumulated temperature is 2000 ℃, the frost free period is 183 days, the annual rainfall is 1052mm, the average annual sunshine hours is 1650 hours, and the relative humidity is 80%.

The main natural grasses are: Festuca arundinacea, Chenmou Yegu grass, thrush grass, Echinochloa, Cyperus, Potentilla discolor, edelweiss, etc.; the main shrubs are: Fargesia, Rhododendron, Castanea mollissima, etc. In the mid-1980s, 20000 mu of artificial forage was improved by aerial seeding with state investment. In 2004, "Weining natural grassland restoration and construction project" was implemented here. In the future, Weining plans to develop baicaoping into a development base with unique Weining characteristics, integrating grassland sightseeing, ethnic customs performance and animal husbandry.

Beautiful scenery

Baicaoping tourist area is about 20 kilometers away from the county seat of Weining Yi, Hui and Miao Autonomous County, with a total area of 26700 hectares (about 400000 mu). It is an important animal husbandry base in Southwest China and enjoys the reputation of "Southern Grassland".

The uniqueness of baicaoping lies in the undulating terrain and the fantasy of cloud, sky and sea. Standing on Zuan mountain, the main peak of baicaoping at an altitude of 2817 meters, baicaoping is like a huge green blanket rolled up by a hurricane, which is in line with the magnificent atmosphere of "Wumeng". Baicaoping also has a soft side. Under the beautiful sun and clear sky, baicaoping looks soft, quiet and distant. All kinds of wild grasses and flowers show their unique beauty. In the midsummer of July, the blue purple flowers of Scutellaria yunnanensis cover dozens of hillsides, and the whole mountain turns blue purple. On the grassland, dotted with cattle and sheep, it can best reflect the poetic and picturesque meaning of "vast sky and vast wild". It is a good place for summer vacation and sightseeing.

Representative scenic spots

Baicaoping has a peak, called the highest peak, also known as Zuan mountain, 2833 meters high, passing by national highway 326. Formerly known as Sibao mountain, it is the highest mountain in the northeast of the county. The mountain peaks stand upright, silver deposits are accumulated, and the grass is as big as icicles. Sheep is a special product here, which is called Sibao sheep. Liangshuigou near the border is an excellent breeding farm. According to the local chronicles, this place is called chitun. Weining annals says: the four fortresses are Pingshan fortress, high mountains and winding roads. They are dangerous and can be defended, which is the guarantee of Northeast China.

Sibao is the first place where the WUSA Miao people moved in. According to historical records, during the Tang and Song Dynasties, the ancestors of the Miao nationality moved to Weining from South Sichuan and other places from east to west, and first settled in the area of Sibao in Yancang. According to Weining records, the Miao nationality "according to the legend of ancient songs, led by Yedang Litao, the leader of the Miao nationality, moved to saono's home in WUSA, and lived in dunale (the highest peak of Yancang today), which was in the Southern Song Dynasty."

According to the records of the southwest Yi nationality, the WUSA chieftain married aqimihi, the 38th granddaughter of shuixijia. The date of this marriage, according to the ancient Miao song, was October 15 of the ancient calendar. Three hundred young men and women of the Miao nationality came to WUSA with shuixinu and lived in dunale (the highest peak of Yancang in Weining today). It was the Southern Song Dynasty. Yang Han discovered the pedigree of the Miao's Yang family when he visited Tianshengqiao in the Longjie District of Weining in the 26th year of the Republic of China. It is recorded that the Yang family moved seven places in Weining. From 1937 to 1990, it was 34 generations. It can be inferred that the upper limit of Yang's history in Weining was the Southern Song Dynasty, which is consistent with the biography of ancient songs.

Folk customs

Baicaoping is the place where the Yi, Miao, Han and Hui people drive flowers on the 5th day of may in the lunar calendar. The drive flowers street is also called drive flowers mountain and Dragon Boat Festival. The Yi language is called "Mu He Wu Ye", the Miao language is called "a Yi Ao", which means "two crazy families", and the Han language is also called "Duanyang". In Duanwu Festival, different ethnic groups have different ways of expression. Yi People's program is based on the rise of yin and fall of Yang in the eight diagrams of yin and Yang. In the early morning of the day, they set up animals, and in the afternoon, they gather in baicaoping, singing and racing. Miao people mean "two crazy families", which means the battle between Miao tribe and Sha tribe. The Miao tribe left their hometown in defeat. Legend

The Dragon Boat Festival is also an important historical event for the Hui people. During the Xianfeng Period of the Qing Dynasty, the Manchu government knew that the Hui people did not have the custom of hanging Gepu on the door on the Dragon Boat Festival, while other nationalities had it, which was easy to identify. Therefore, the Qing government secretly ordered Kunming and other prefectures to slaughter the Hui people in the city with the sign of whether Gepu was hung on the door
