Historical evolution
In April 1956, the National Sports Committee decided to set up ten secondary sports schools in China, and entrusted the local provincial and municipal committees to prepare for them. Nanjing city began to organize Nanjing sports school.
At the beginning of the preparation, in the problem of school location. The responsible comrades of Nanjing Planning Bureau suggested that Nanjing physical education school should be built in Zhongshan Gate. After the on-the-spot investigation, it was found that there were many secondary vocational schools in the area, and the proposed address was surrounded by the city wall and other units, so there was no development space and it was not suitable to build the school, so the proposal was stranded.
Since then, the school was located near Zhongshan Mausoleum on the site of the former central stadium, where the Fifth National Games of the Republic of China was held. At that time, it was the residence of the communication company of the military academy. Before liberation, the national sports college was set up here. It has good congenital conditions, and because it is located in FengHao District in the eastern suburbs, it has a very large development space, so it is a better site selection scheme.
In April 1956, after the address of the school was determined, the preparatory office immediately started the preparatory work and planned to start school on time in October. The first is the overall planning and design work. The Municipal Design Institute is requested to come up with an overall design scheme. According to the total number of 1200 students in the school (the original planned scale was 900 students, and then it was increased according to the needs of the development of the situation), it was decided to first build the basketball room, gymnastics room, track and field room, staff and student dormitory and other infrastructure, with a total budget of 300000-400000 yuan.
Due to the shortage of infrastructure materials in the early days of the founding of the people's Republic of China, the school had to give up the overall design scheme and made a simple modification according to the design drawings of the Soviet middle school to make the construction drawings of the school. The scale of the school planning and design is relatively shallow, including the open space around the central stadium building, including Xiamen national art hall, basketball room, eight tennis courts, swimming pool, football field (under the current stadium), swimming pool, baseball field, etc.
At the same time, the school also started to recruit students and select teachers. After the approval of the Provincial Department of education, the document is hereby published in the newspaper, and the work of selecting and transferring teachers is also started. On the one hand, the school asked the Department of education to increase the number of middle school physical education teachers with comparative ability; on the other hand, it recruited the first batch of graduates from the Central Institute of physical education and Shanghai Institute of physical education. Because the school had to take additional physical education examination when recruiting students, but the school was still in the process of infrastructure construction at that time, the school arranged the first batch of candidates to take additional physical education examination by borrowing the venue of Jiangsu Sports cadre training class located in the garden of the Dutch Embassy in laocai City, Shanxi road. Through the examination, the final admission of nearly 300 students.
On November 18, 1956, the school officially opened. According to the constitution of secondary physical education school issued by the State Sports Commission at that time, the Department of Nanjing physical education school was divided into education unit, infrastructure unit, purchasing room, etc. The school is under the management of the State Sports Commission.
In 1957, the school was decentralized to the local government for direct management.
On June 7, 1958, Jiangsu provincial Party committee and Jiangsu Provincial People's Committee decided to establish Nanjing Sports College on the basis of Nanjing sports school by merging Jiangsu Sports cadre training class and Jiangsu normal university sports specialty.
