Yilan Shizhi Memorial Hall
The Yilan memorial hall was built in 1906. The meaning of "governance" is "governance by officials". Yilan was established in 1812 (the 17th year of Jiaqing in Qing Dynasty), and was appointed as an official by the Qing Dynasty. In the past, it was the official residence of successive executive heads in Ilan. The outdoor garden is full of old trees, especially a hundred year old camphor tree, which is very precious and has aroused controversy about its preservation.
brief introduction
Standing side by side with the partition wall of the county government, the Museum covers an area of 800 square meters, with 74 square meters of building space. At the time of the cancellation of the official residence of the county magistrate, the demolition of the county government, and the transformation of the old city, the museum creates a space with knowledge education and leisure of local history. The exhibition contents include five themes, presenting the history, culture and social changes of Ilan since its establishment in 200 years.
Yilan Shizhi memorial hall is a Western-style building. The cypress used for construction is the cypress of Taiping mountain at that time. During the Japanese rule period, it was the dormitory of the prefects of Yilan County. At that time, the prefects were mostly Japanese. Yang Jiquan was the first prefect to be served by a Taiwanese. After the restoration, it was taken over by the national government.
The contents on display in the museum mainly cover three periods of cultural relics and historical materials: the first is the era of garmalan hall in the Qing Dynasty, the second is the era of Ilan hall under Japanese rule, and the third is the era of Ilan County since the restoration. After the reign of the Qing Dynasty, Japan and the national government, it left an indelible influence on the people, land, politics, economy, culture and education of Ilan.
Structure of the Museum
Director of old Ilan
The official residence was first built in 1906 for the residence and reception of the director general of Ilan. Shen Ting Mi Yuan, with a huge wood, was the core of political operation for nearly a century. It was rebuilt in 1997 as a memorial hall for the establishment of Yilan. The elegant hybrid architecture is the first case of preservation and utilization of historical space in Yilan County.
Walking into the Yilan Shizhi memorial hall is like walking into the historical memory of the past. It forms a very different space from the road whistling by vehicles. I feel that the historical atmosphere of the past is completely preserved in the still picture. The wooden buildings are well preserved. You need to take off your shoes before you enter the room. There are abundant historical materials in them. The former director of Ilan lived here, which was the core of the political operation for nearly a century.
The courtyard of Heyang mixed architecture is quite visible. The towering old trees in the garden are one of the greatest contributions to the preservation of this place. Originally, this place was going to be demolished, but they were reluctant to give up these hundred year old camphor trees, Liquidambar formosana, eggplant, kapok Therefore, it has been preserved as a memorial of the past. The branches of the old tree are green and full of parasitic plants (most of them are cup-shaped Drynaria, crawling with old eggplant, while the others are triangular column cactus). "Withered landscape" and "withered stone flow" are the special landscapes of this area, which are arranged by palm sized gravel slices into a winding river, flowing through the stone bridge in the courtyard The origin of Kuishi flow is under the oldest camphor tree in the courtyard. The snow covered with white sand is the snow in Japanese imagination. When the first snow melts, it will merge into a stream (Kuishi flow), like a life winding through the courtyard. It is an eternal and silent snow melting river.
In the era when the garden was built, there was no modern cement. The ancestors used protein, oyster shell powder and glutinous rice powder as adhesives to make the herringbone tablets stick very firmly. Even after a hundred years, they still stand. Only the plants growing on the wall because of the nutrients of natural adhesives show the traces of wind and frost. The special landscaping in the garden, the towering giant wood and the rich historical materials of the old Yilan director's residence are all worth visiting here.
