Chongqing No.1 Machinery Industry School

In 1940, the school was ordered by the Department of ordnance industry to change the 21 ordnance factory workers' cram school into the 11th Technical School of the Department of ordnance industry. On November 1 of the same year, the school officially opened in Wulidian, Jiangbei.

On April 5, 1950, the Ministry of industry of the Southwest Military and political commission ordered to merge the 21 Arsenal technical school, Ninghe middle school, 20 Arsenal Jialing middle school and 50 Arsenal pragmatic middle school into the 21 Arsenal industrial workers' school. On September 21, the Ministry of industry of the Southwest Military and political Commission changed its name to the Industrial School of the southwest ministry of industry.

In August 1951, under the instruction of the southwest ministry of industry, the school changed from a secondary professional school to a junior college, and participated in the unified enrollment of colleges and universities in Chongqing.

On September 2, 1953, the Second Bureau of the second Ministry of mechanical industry decided to change the name of Chongqing mechanical engineering school to southwest first industrial school.

On September 1, 1954, Yangjiaping campus was officially put into use.

On January 23, 1955, the school moved from Wulidian old school site in Jiangbei to Yangjiaping new school site.

In 1956, the second Ministry of machinery industry decided to change the name of Chongqing Industrial school to Chongqing Machinery Manufacturing Industrial school. On April 27, the school changed its name from Chongqing Machinery Manufacturing Industrial school to Chongqing first machinery manufacturing industrial school.

On March 1, 1960, the first Ministry of machinery industry rebuilt the school into a technical college, named Chongqing Technical College, and decided to expand the industrial school with a long-term plan of 5000 people.

In 1962, the Education Department of the fifth Bureau of the Ministry of machinery industry of the third people's Republic of China announced that the junior college was dismounted and the technical secondary school was restored. The name of the school was changed to Chongqing No.1 machinery manufacturing industrial school.

In 1963, the fifth Bureau of the third Ministry of machinery industry changed the name of Chongqing No.1 machinery manufacturing school to Chongqing No.1 machinery manufacturing school.

 

Chongqing Institute of Technology

On April 16, 1965, the fifth Ministry of mechanical industry decided to transform technical secondary school into a university, named Chongqing Institute of technology.

On July 1, 1969, the school was changed into a factory. The first factory was named 5077 factory, and the second factory was named state-owned Qiyi instrument factory.

On March 15, 1986, the State Education Commission approved the formal establishment of Chongqing Institute of industrial management, and formally enrolled students from the autumn. On September 6, the first batch of 150 freshmen of Chongqing Institute of industrial management entered the school.

On November 17, 1988, Chongqing Institute of industrial management was added as a bachelor degree awarding unit.

 

Chongqing Institute of Technology

In May 1999, the school was transferred from China National Ordnance Industry Corporation to Chongqing Municipality for management. The school implemented a management system jointly built by the central government and local governments and focused on local management. In the same year, it was renamed Chongqing Institute of technology.

In 2001, Chongqing Economic Management Cadre College was incorporated into the college as a whole. In the adjustment of the layout and structure of colleges and universities in Chongqing, the college was planned by Chongqing Municipal People's government as the "Chongqing University of technology" to be built soon, and the college was added as a master's degree authorized unit by the degree Office of the State Council.

In September 2005, Huaxi campus, covering an area of 1500 mu, was officially opened.

 

Chongqing University of Technology

In March 2009, the Ministry of Education approved the renaming of Chongqing Institute of technology as "Chongqing University of technology".

 

In May 2011, Chongqing University of science and technology was rated as "National Graduate Employment typical experience university" by the Ministry of education.

 

In January 2018, Chongqing University of technology and Peking University jointly established Liangjiang College of artificial intelligence of Chongqing University of technology. In March, the school was selected into the first batch of new engineering research and practice projects of the Ministry of education.

In February 2019, Chongqing University of technology was recognized by the Ministry of education as one of the first batch of Universities' scientific and technological achievements transformation and technology transfer bases.
