The origin of the predecessor

College of agriculture, National Central University

In 1902, the agricultural natural history department of Sanjiang normal school was established.

In 1917, with the change of the school name, it was changed into the agricultural specialty of Nanjing Normal University.

In December 1920, the National Southeast University was founded on the basis of Nanjing Normal University, and established the Department of agriculture.

In 1923, Nanjing Normal University was officially abolished, and the Department of agriculture of National Southeast University was established.

In 1927, National Southeast University changed its name to national fourth Sun Yat sen University and established the agricultural college.

In 1928, due to the change of its name, it was renamed the Agricultural College of National Central University.

In August 1949, it was renamed Agricultural College of Nanjing University.

 

Agricultural College of Jinling University

In 1914, private Jinling University set up the Department of agriculture.

In 1915, the Department of forestry was established in private Jinling University.

In 1916, the University merged agriculture and forestry and established the agriculture and Forestry Department of private Jinling University.

In 1930, the Department of agriculture and forestry of private Jinling University was changed into the Agricultural College of private Jinling University.

In 1937, after the July 7th incident, the Agricultural College moved to Sichuan with the school.

In 1946, the Agricultural College moved back to Nanjing with the school.

In 1951, the Agricultural College of private Jinling University was renamed as the Agricultural College of Jinling University due to the merger of the Agricultural College of private Jinling University and Jinling Women's College of Arts and sciences into public Jinling University.

In 1952, the national colleges and departments were adjusted, with the Agricultural College of Jinling University and the Agricultural College of Nanjing University as the main body, as well as some departments of the Agricultural College of Zhejiang University, and the Nanjing Agricultural College was established.

 

In 1963, the State Council was designated as a national key university.

 

In 1972, the school moved to Yangzhou and merged with Subei agricultural college to establish Jiangsu Agricultural College.

In 1979, the school moved back to Nanjing and restored Nanjing Agricultural College.

 

In November 1981, with the approval of the State Council, the University became one of the first batch of doctoral and master degree awarding units in China.

In 1984, Nanjing Agricultural University was renamed Nanjing Agricultural University.

In 1998, it was identified as the key construction University of the national "211 Project".

 

In 2000, it was transferred from the Ministry of agriculture to the Ministry of education.

 

In 2008, it was selected as the education aid base of the Ministry of education.

 

In 2009, the Ministry of education and the Ministry of agriculture jointly established Nanjing Agricultural University.

 

In 2012, it was selected as the key construction University of "985 project advantage discipline innovation platform".

 

In 2014, it was selected into the national excellent agriculture and forestry talents training plan.
