Development history
The Hong Kong Park was officially opened in May 1991. The current site of the park was Victoria barracks. In 1979, the government decided to allocate the area near the foothills of the barracks for commercial development and the construction of government buildings, while the part near the middle of the mountain was jointly developed by the former Urban Council and the former Royal Hong Kong Jockey Club. The project cost $398 million.
A number of military barracks cultural relics built between 1842 and 1910 are preserved in the park, including the flagpole house of the commander-in-chief's residence (now known as the tea set Museum), the Luo Lianxin building (now known as the Hong Kong Park office and the Hong Mian road marriage registry), the Weihua building (now known as the Education Center) and the casu building (now known as the Hong Kong Visual Arts Center). In the center of the park, visitors can see the artificial lake and waterfall reconstructed from the old military camp tennis court. Walk up the lakeside path towards central to the Olympic square, Hong Kong Park office and the Hong Mian road marriage registry. In the central part of the park, there are two large-scale modern facilities, namely, a greenhouse and a bird's-eye-catching garden, which are built close to the mountains. They are adjacent to the Taiji garden and the bird's-eye-catching corner, forming the characteristic architectural complex of the Hong Kong Park.
Park features
The tea set Museum in the Hong Kong Park introduces the tea and tea set making process of different dynasties in China, and regularly holds different theme exhibitions. Luo Guixiang teahouse has teahouse, ceramics and tea art exhibition. There are many kinds of exotic flowers in the greenhouse, such as cactus in the dry area plant exhibition hall, or Saxifraga in the tropical plant exhibition hall, etc.

Aviary
It is a new facility proposed by the former Urban Council to be built in Hong Kong Park. Youde Bird Park was opened to the public in September 1992. Birdwatching park is named after the late Sir Edward Youde, who was governor of Hong Kong from 1982 to 1986.

With an area of 1400 square meters, Hong Kong Park greenhouse is one of the largest greenhouses in Southeast Asia. The greenhouse is divided into exhibition hall, dry area plant exhibition hall and tropical plant exhibition hall.
Gymnasium
The air-conditioned gymnasium has a 36 m x 36 m multi-purpose stadium, which can provide the following facilities: 8 badminton courts, or two basketball courts, or two bowling courts, or two volleyball courts.
Other facilities include a multi-purpose activity room, three table tennis tables and a fitness room.
Squash Center
Hong Kong Squash Centre is the largest Squash Centre in Hong Kong. There are 12 air-conditioned squash courts. One of them is a performance venue with three glass walls and spectator stands for competitions and performances.
Every year, the Hong Kong Squash Open and many international competitions are held in this center.
There are snack restaurants to provide catering services.
Children's Playground
The 1000 square meter children's playground is located on six platforms of different heights.
The design concept of the playground should not only enable children to actively participate in game activities, but also encourage preschool to school-age children to give full play to their imagination and creativity.
In order to let children play safely, the playground is paved with safety mats and CCTV is installed to ensure safety.

The 20 meter high clock tower, adjacent to the east main gate, is the focus sign of the park, providing a gathering place for visitors.
Central Garden
The entrance of the central garden is a passageway with widely planted trees and fountains.
In the park surrounded by green trees, there is a fountain square and a fountain stand. Visitors can enjoy themselves surrounded by a fountain.
Olympic Square
The 1100 square meter garden square has about 880 seats.
The square is specially designed for sports promotion, outdoor exhibitions, puppet shows, concerts and other recreational activities. It is also a good place for the public to have a rest on weekdays.

The bird's-eye-view corner is a 30 meter high tower with 105 steps. The top of the tower is equipped with a viewing platform for visitors to overlook the whole park.
Taiji Garden
There are colonnades and architectural landscapes to promote the spirit of anti epidemic in Taiji garden, and there are many courtyards for visitors to play Taiji.
Conservation garden
Hong Kong is rich in dragonflies. More than 100 species have been identified, twice as many as those found in the UK. Hong Kong Park has set up a dragonfly Conservation Park in the artificial lake. The gurgling water, the tranquil pool surface and the dense plants make it an ideal habitat for dragonflies.

There are three restaurants of different sizes and flavors in the park. The restaurant with air conditioning on the artificial lakeside is the largest. This restaurant provides different dining environment. Besides tasting delicious food in the restaurant, customers can enjoy delicious food in the wide corridor outside the restaurant.
In addition, there are two smaller restaurants in the park. One is located in the tea ware Museum and the other is located in the squash center. There are also two snack booths, which are convenient for visitors to enjoy snacks in different places.
Tea set Museum
The main work of the museum is to preserve, display and study tea set relics and related tea art culture. The basic collection of the teaware museum was donated by the late Dr. Luo Guixiang (1910-1995), among which Yixing teaware is the most representative.
The former British commander-in-chief's office and official residence, with a history of more than 150 years, was rebuilt as a tea set Museum in 1984, and a new wing, Luo Guixiang teahouse, was added in 1995. In addition to exhibitions, the museum also regularly organizes ceramic demonstrations, tea activities and lectures to promote ceramics
