Hangzhou Medical College is a full-time general undergraduate college established by the people's Government of Zhejiang Province and approved by the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China. In 2012, it was selected into the "excellent doctor education and training plan".
Hangzhou Medical College was established in September 2019 by the merger of Hangzhou Medical College and Zhejiang Academy of Medical Sciences. The predecessor of the former Hangzhou Medical College was Zhejiang Provincial Women's obstetrics school founded in 1925. After the school running period of Hangzhou higher medical vocational school, Hangzhou health school, Hangzhou Medical College (old), Zhejiang health school and Zhejiang Medical College, it was upgraded and renamed Hangzhou Medical College in 2016. Zhejiang Academy of Medical Sciences was founded in 1928 as the Institute of tropical diseases, which was privately funded by Hong Shilu. It was renamed Zhejiang Academy of Medical Sciences in 1988 after Zhejiang Experimental Institute of health, Zhejiang Academy of Medical Sciences, Zhejiang People's Experimental Institute of health and Zhejiang Medical Research Institute.
As of November 2019, Hangzhou Medical College has two campuses of Lin'an and Binjiang, and three science and education centers of Huanglong, Qingshanhu and BINKANG, covering an area of 754 mu, with a building area of 380000 square meters and a total value of 310 million yuan in teaching and scientific research equipment. Start up period
After the Opium War, the British Empire infiltrated into Hangzhou and founded Guangji Medical College in 1881.
After the May 30th massacre in 1925, some patriotic teachers of Guangji medical college were born in Daomao lane, Hangzhou. They separated from Guangji Medical College and set up a new school. On June 6, Zhejiang Provincial Women's obstetrics school was established. Zheng Qi was the principal of the school. When he founded the school, he rented a private house at No. 13, Zhenzhu lane, taimen, Qing Dynasty.
In 1926, the school changed its name to Zhejiang Provincial Women's obstetrics vocational school, which was under the charge of Zhejiang Provincial Department of education. In June of the same year, Zhejiang provincial government decided to set up Zhejiang provincial midwifery school, which was jointly run by Zhejiang Provincial Women's obstetrics vocational school and Zhejiang provincial midwifery school, and was transferred to Zhejiang Provincial Department of civil affairs, which was called Zhejiang Provincial Women's midwifery school.

In November 1937, affected by the Japanese War of aggression against China, Hangzhou was in crisis, and the school moved to Yongjia, Wenzhou.

In April 1940, Zhejiang provincial Hangzhou senior nurse midwifery vocational school was set up in the Medical College of Yingshi University. In 1943, a pharmacy department was set up in the school, which was prepared by teacher Wang Qinhua. The school was renamed Hangzhou senior medical vocational school of Zhejiang Province (hereinafter referred to as "Gaoyi").
In the spring of 1946, the school moved back to Hangzhou, with four specialties of midwifery, nurse, pharmacy and health.
On February 1, 1948, the school headquarters moved to the new site of Jiaoren street.

In 2000, the people's Government of Zhejiang Province agreed to move the school to Binjiang Higher Education Park in Hangzhou through land replacement, and upgraded it to Zhejiang medical vocational and technical college.
In July 2002, Zhejiang medical vocational and Technical College (Preparatory) was renamed Zhejiang Medical College (Preparatory); in September of the same year, the school moved to Binjiang higher education park.
In May 2004, with the approval of the Ministry of education, the school was officially upgraded and renamed Zhejiang Medical College.
