Zhijiang campus of Zhejiang University is located in the beautiful moon ring mountains beside Qiantang River and Liuhe tower. It was the seat of Zhijiang University before liberation. It is a missionary university jointly founded by the Presbyterian Church of North America and the Presbyterian Church of South America in Hangzhou, China. It is also one of the 13 Christian universities in China. Its predecessor is Chongxin Yishu, 186, which was founded in Ningbo in 1845 (the 25th year of the Qing Dynasty) In 1887 (the sixth year of Tongzhi in the Qing Dynasty), Chongxin Yishu moved from Ningbo to Hangzhou. In 1887, it was renamed Yuying Yishu, and in 1897, it was officially called "Hangchow Presbyterian" In 1907, a new school was built in yuelun mountain. In February 1911, it was officially moved into the new school. Because it was located at the bend of Qiantang River, it was zigzagged, so it was renamed Zhijiang school. In 1914, it was renamed Hangchow Christian college because of the realization of the plan of Zhijiang University. In 1951, it was taken over by the Department of culture and education of Zhejiang Province, and American teachers left school and returned home. In 1958, after the Department of nuclear physics was established in Zhejiang University, it belonged to Zhejiang University. In 1992, with the approval of the former State Education Commission, the Ministry of infrastructure was built here and listed as a key project in the eighth five year plan.
In 2006, the Guanghua Education Foundation of Hong Kong donated RMB 100 million to the Law School of Zhejiang University. The next year, the Law School of Zhejiang University was renamed Guanghua Law School of Zhejiang University and moved to Zhijiang campus of Zhejiang University, a century old campus.
Zhijiang campus covers an area of 650 mu, with a total construction area of 70000 square meters. It is now the seat of Guanghua Law School of Zhejiang University and higher Research Institute of Humanities of Zhejiang University.

Zhejiang University is located in Hangzhou, a paradise on earth. Its predecessor is Qiushi academy founded in 1897, which is one of the earliest modern institutions of higher learning founded by Chinese people. In 1928, it was renamed National Zhejiang University. During the period of the Republic of China, under the leadership of Zhu Kezhen, Zhejiang University rose to be one of the highest institutions in the Republic of China. It was hailed as "Oriental Cambridge" by Joseph Needham, a British scholar, and ushered in the most glorious period in the hundred year history of Zhejiang University. Because of his historical contribution, Zhu Kezhen became the greatest person in the history of Zhejiang University, and established the motto of "seeking truth" and the classical Chinese school song of Zhejiang University.
Zhejiang University is directly under the Ministry of education of the people's Republic of China. Historical evolution
Before the founding of the people's Republic of China, there were 13 Christian Universities in China, including Yenching University, hangchou Christian College, Shandong Christian University (cheeloo), Soochow University, St. John's University, West China Union University and Huazhong University University, Jinling University of Nanking, Fukien Christian University of Fujian Union Medical College, Hwa Nan College of South China Women's College of Arts and Sciences, Ginling College of Jinling Women's College of Arts and Sciences, Shanghai University of Hujiang, Lingnan University of Lingnan. Although the number is small, the starting point is very high. Under the historical conditions at that time, especially after the 1920s, missionary universities played an exemplary and guiding role in the process of China's educational modernization. The predecessor of Zhijiang university is Ningbo's boarding school, which was founded in 1845 (the 25th year of the Qing Dynasty) by mccarte M. D., the Presbyterian Church of the United States. At that time, the Chongxin school was equivalent to the current primary school level. In 1867 (the sixth year of the Tongzhi reign of the Qing Dynasty), Chongxin Yishu moved from Ningbo to Hangzhou, first in Pishi lane, and then in Ta'er lane. It was renamed as Presbyterian boy's school. It was divided into two branches, namely, the primary school and the preparatory school. In 1880, it was founded by Rev Junius, an American missionary Judson is the principal of the school. English is the main course, followed by Chinese. Bible is a compulsory course. Students must go to church. The courses include Chinese classics, dogmatic questions and answers, biblical testimony, philosophy, arithmetic and algebra, geometry, history, geography, chemistry, composition, debate and music. In the autumn of 1887, Yuying school held its first graduation ceremony. In 1880, it began to pay attention to science, engage in scientific experiments, hold lectures on popular scientific knowledge, and teach western scientific knowledge. In 1897, it was officially called "Yu Ying Yi Shu" as "Hong Chow Presbyterian College". Since 1890, English has been added to prepare students for further study, and the number of students has increased to nearly 100. Since 1907, the original school building has been small and narrow. After three years of planning and operation, the main buildings, such as teaching building, dormitory, library and laboratory, have been completed. The school is surrounded by mountains on three sides, facing Qiantang River and the west side of Liuhe tower. The terrain is wide and picturesque. The school covers an area of more than 300 mu. Since 1910, the north and South Presbyterians have cooperated to form a school board. Among them, J. E. shoemaker and J. M. espey represent the North Presbyterian Church; J. Leighton Stuart and J. M. espey represent the South Presbyterian Church. In February 1911, he officially moved into the new school building. Because it is located at the bend of Qiantang River, it is zigzag, so it is named Zhijiang school. In 1914, due to the realization of the plan to run Zhijiang University, it was renamed as Hangchow Christian College, with the American missionary Wang linggeng as the president (E.L. Mattox), and the number of students increased by 140. In 1912, Dr. Sun Yat Sen went to the school to give a speech. He was very grateful to the missionaries for their work in the school they founded, and took pictures with the teachers and students. In 1912, an observatory was built on the top of the mountain, also known as "Philadelphia Observatory".
In the autumn of 1916, the board of directors elected Warren h. Stuart, the younger brother of Leiden Stuart, as the headmaster, and employed Ding Kaifeng, an old graduate of Leiden Stuart Stuart, as the Provost. It also added student scholarships and free student loans. In 1918, the school journal "the tide of the river" was published. From 1918 to 1919, two new teachers' dormitories, a chapel (Duke Hall), a reservoir and dormitories were built. Electric lights were used in the dormitories, and the sports ground was completed.
