Development history
The function orientation of the museum is mainly to publicize and promote the long-standing fan skills in China, to explore and protect the traditional handicrafts, and at the same time to display and collect. Build the museum into a civilian National Museum with professional characteristics, Hangzhou characteristics and canal characteristics, integrating collection, research, exhibition, education, publicity, entertainment, shopping and other functions, and strive to build it into a national thematic museum with "domestic leading and world-class".
There is a fan street of Ming and Qing Dynasties in the museum, and a glass visual interpretation system is set up. Standing in front of the display window displaying folding fans, the glass surface is sensed and the corresponding commentaries are projected. At the same time, the museum also uses robots to explain. When someone passes by, the sensor can detect it, and the robot dressed like a fan shop worker will greet it.

Unit 1: origin and history of Chinese fan
Fan is a kind of cool and heat dissipation appliance in summer. Its shape mainly includes screen fan and folding fan. Fan has a long history in China, the relevant literature can be traced back to the Xia Dynasty, or the Yushun period. The early popular long handle fan was mainly used by aristocrats for travel, while the self-supporting short handle fan had the meaning of today's fan. Since the Qin and Han Dynasties, Tuan fan appeared and became the basic style of fan. The folding fan was introduced from Japan in the Northern Song Dynasty. Because it opened and closed freely, it was widely manufactured and used in the Ming Dynasty, and became a fan type that was equal to Tuan fan. For thousands of years, fans have been closely related to social politics, folk customs and artistic creation, and have become the carrier of people's ideas and emotions, and thus developed Chinese fan culture with distinctive national characteristics. The fine craftsmanship and ingenious design of the fan makers, together with the painting inscriptions of literati artists, make the small fan melt thousands of weather in close proximity, with long charm and elegant style, becoming a dazzling pearl of human cultural heritage.
Unit 2: Chinese fan culture
From the ancient Chinese literature, the appearance of the fan was first out of the social and political needs, which doomed the fan to carry the mission of social responsibility. For a long time, fan was a part of court etiquette. At the same time, it is endowed with supernatural power and becomes a magic weapon. The types and usage of fans vary with different occupations and identities, which makes fans become identity symbols reflecting people's social status. In China, fans are paid special attention by artists because of their close relationship with ancient women.
Unit 3: Chinese fan industry
With the popularity of fans in daily life, the fan industry has developed in different areas. In the early days, the center of fan industry was in the area of Qi and Chu, so there was a saying that "Qi Wan Chu Zhu". In the Song Dynasty, especially in the Southern Song Dynasty, Lin'an (Hangzhou), the capital of fan making industry, was the most concentrated and famous place. In the Ming and Qing Dynasties, Sichuan and Jiangnan were undoubtedly the most developed areas of fan industry. The famous Jinling fan and Gusu fan were well-known throughout the country. Hangzhou's folding fan technology and production scale were second to none.
Unit 4: exquisite Fan Art
Chinese fan art is a combination of folk artists and literati artists. In the long process of development, the shape and style of fan art have changed from single to changeable, and the technology of fan has changed from simple and practical to exquisite and elegant, which is the result of the integration of folk art and poetry, calligraphy, painting, sculpture and other arts. Although the materials of fans are different, almost every kind of fan strives to surpass on the basis of practicality to make itself more beautiful and outstanding. It is this kind of effort that makes Chinese fan a world-famous craft masterpiece.
