Luban Temple

brief introduction

The temple is located in qingliantai, west ring, Hong Kong. The main gate forehead: "Guangyue hall", and the couplet: "the rules always exist, and the craftsmanship can be traced back to the sacred; the Tao and utensils run through together, and the things can be analyzed and leveled.".

Historical evolution

The temple was founded in 1884 (the 10th year of the reign of Emperor Guangxu). It is a two-way building. At that time, it was built by a group of platform housing construction workers. It was rebuilt in 1928 and 1949.

Architectural features

The main hall is dedicated to the shrine of Lu Ban's master. On the shrine, there are four characters: "eternal beauty", hanging the curtain of "Lu Ban's master", and couplets on both sides: "the sages look up for thousands of years; the teacher's round hundred saints". On both sides of the entrance are the God of wealth and door god.

The Luban temple is the one with the largest number of murals among the Chinese temples on Hong Kong Island. There are murals on the outside, inside, door wall and gable of the temple. For example, there are still many flowers, birds, characters and calligraphies in Zhang Qian's painting of Pan Cha, wind and rain returning to the boat, night trip to Chibi, butterfly and Narcissus, visiting friends, Damo crossing the river, lady leaning on stone and Double Dragons. There are also three paintings on the back wall of the second entrance of the temple, among which is the whole picture of fortune, fortune and longevity, and landscape paintings on the left and right, all of which have the color of traditional Chinese academic culture.

In addition to murals, there are also many clay sculptures on the gable, back wall and long head of the temple, such as "Yin Fu Tu", "Xue Qin Tu", "Wen Wang Hui Jiang Shang", "Shu Tu", "flowers and birds Tu", "drunk Tu", etc.
