In China's "Three Kingdoms tourist attractions line", there is a historical and cultural city Xinye. In Xinye, there are two thousand year old hansang cities. The place called "city" is actually two historic buildings with a width of less than 3 meters. There are two thousand year old mulberry trees in the building, one is called guanzhisang and the other is called guansusang. It is said that at the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Liu, Guan and Zhang Taoyuan joined forces and stationed in Xinye, inviting Zhuge Liang to serve as a military adviser. Zhuge Liang's benevolence and strict discipline won the support of the people. One day, Guan Yunchang, who was bent on reading the book of war, neglected the horse tied under the mulberry tree in front of the door. The horse gnawed the mulberry tree of the landlord. When Zhuge Liang learned of this, he immediately punished Guan Yunchang for his crime and punished him for planting another mulberry tree as compensation to the landlord.

Hansang City

Hansang City, the smallest and most peculiar city in the world, is located in the center of Xinye County, Nanyang City, Henan Province. In the city, there is a mulberry tree with vigorous withered branches and frosty skin. It was planted by Guan Yu in the Three Kingdoms period about 1800 years ago. Although the main trunk has withered, the roots grow young mulberry. It has not withered for generations and is still luxuriant in branches and leaves. In the Ming Dynasty, the local government built a brick wall around the tree. The wall was 11 meters high, 4 meters high, 3.5 meters in diameter, covering an area of more than 10 square meters. It was built with green bricks and covered with earth mounds. It was like a city wall. It was called "hansang city".

According to historical records, Liu Bei, Guan Yu and Zhang Fei occupied Nanyang Xinye from 201 to 206 A.D. (the 6th to 13th year of Jian'an). They built a city to train their troops, planned strategies, and invited Zhuge Liang to make the decision of "Cao Lu Dui", which laid the foundation for the establishment of Shu Han regime and the division of Wei, Shu and Wu.

Hansang city is small and exquisite, with seven bent and eight forked dead branches stretching out of the city. From a distance, it looks like an ancient bonsai, elegant and interesting. The ancient mulberry is old, and its trunk is like iron. The huge withered branches twist its waist, crack the cracks, shake off its armor and skin, and it is as hard as a fossil. It makes people feel strong and full of emotion.

"Guanzhisang" is located in the west of Xinye County, Nanyang City, in hansang primary school. Around this mulberry tree, which has been growing for more than 1800 years, there is a brick wall, a battlement on the top of the wall, and a stone tablet on the front wall of the city. Thousands of years old mulberry, send out fresh green buds, appear vigorous. What makes this small building so famous? It turns out that a very moving story in the history of our country took place here. At the end of the Eastern Han Dynasty, Liu Bei, Guan Yunchang and Zhang Fei stationed in Xinye and planned strategies for the great cause. Later, Liu Bei gathered all kinds of opinions and invited Zhuge Liang to WoLonggang. Since Zhuge Liang became a military strategist, he has taken two important measures: one is to be benevolent and love the people; the other is to grasp the discipline in the army. These two have won the praise of the people. One day, Guan Yunchang came back from the playground and tied his red rabbit horse to a mulberry tree at the door. Then he went into the house to study the book of war. Unexpectedly, because the horse was hungry, he ate all the leaves, branches and bark. A few days later, the mulberry tree dried up and died. The owner of this mulberry tree is Mr. Zhang, the landlord of Guan Yunchang. When Zhuge Liang heard the news, he found Guan Yunchang and reiterated the discipline of loving the people. He asked Guan Yunchang to plant a mulberry tree consciously to show his compensation to old man Zhang. Guan Yunchang began to think that Zhuge Liang embarrassed him, and then he thought that Zhuge Liang's words were very reasonable. If we are benevolent, love the people, and grasp the discipline in the army, we must treat soldiers equally. If we are not right, how can we be right? So I bought a mulberry tree from the market, planted it in the same place happily, and apologized to old man Zhang again and again.

In order to prevent the mulberry tree from being damaged again, Guan Yunchang led the officers and soldiers to build a brick city around the mulberry tree. This is where the famous "hansang city" came from.

15 kilometers north of Xinye county is Shayan, an ancient town of the Three Kingdoms. Now, there is a big mulberry tree in the government yard of Shayan town. At that time, Cao Cao personally led 500000 troops to Xinye. Zhuge Liang made a careful plan to burn Cao's soldiers first and then submerge them. He sent Guan Yu to ambush in Shayan. The night before the fierce battle, Guan Yu and Pao sleep under the mulberry tree. Cao Jun was burned to death after entering the empty city of Xinye. He was defeated and fled. When crossing the river, he was drowned by Guanyu. For this reason, later generations imitated the hansang city in Xinye county and built another hansang city.

In 2007, Xinye County renovated hansang City, using cement and newly fired green bricks. The city has changed from round to square, and its area has been expanded several times, changing the original style of the historic site.
