Located in Yantian village, Yangpu Peninsula, Hainan Province, the Millennium ancient salt field has recently been turned into a tourist attraction. This ancient salt field has 750 Mu and has a history of more than 1200 years. It is said that it was made by salt workers who migrated from Putian, Fujian Province. According to the characteristics of high temperature and scorching sun in Hainan Island, salt workers changed the way of "boiling the sea for salt" in the past. They poured the beach sediment dried by the sun into the sea water and filtered it to make brine with high salt content. Then they poured the brine into a stone trough and exposed it to the sun to make salt. Because the salt here is delicious and has curative effect on many diseases, Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty gave "Zhengde" to Yantian people. Hainan's Millennium ancient salt field is known as the first salt making field to use sunlight. The ancient salt of the original folk salt making process has been well preserved up to now. At present, there are more than 1000 inkstone type salt troughs with different shapes, which are densely covered with beaches. Now there are still more than 30 salt workers in Yantian village, who work in the ancient way for more than 1200 years every day.
This ancient salt field is located in Yantian village in the south of xinyingwan district office. It is more than 1200 years ago. It has various shapes and an annual output of 500 tons. The Millennium ancient salt field is the earliest solar salt production site in China, and it is also the last ancient salt field in China to retain the original solar salt production method. Yangpu Millennium ancient salt field is the only tourist attraction with ornamental and archaeological value in Yangpu Development Zone and even in China.

Legend
According to Mr. Sun, a staff member of the publicity section of the xinyingwan District Office of Yangpu Development Zone, this ancient salt field has a history of more than 1200 years. It is said that it was made by salt workers who migrated from Putian, Fujian Province. Salt workers use local materials to cut half of the vast natural volcanic rocks on the seashore and chisel numerous shallow stone troughs, like a square inkstone standing shoulder to shoulder. The size and height of the stones vary with each other. Some of them are carved with simple words, which are scattered and inlaid in ridges and blocks of salt fields. The total number of troughs is more than 6800, which is magnificent. The sutras are usually injected into the stone troughs The filtered sea water will also automatically diffuse into these stone troughs when the sea water is at high tide, allowing the hot sun to bask in salt.
More than 1200 years ago, in the late Tang Dynasty, a group of salt workers from Putian, Fujian Province, for unknown reasons, worked hard to move to gudaner County in the western part of Hainan Island at that time, and built their homes and salt fields by digging up mountains and stones on the coast of Yangpu Peninsula. Their salt fields are very unique. They cut off half of the large natural volcanic rocks by the sea, leave a convex edge on the top of the rocks, and smooth the middle to make a stone trough. Usually, the sea water filtered by sea mud is injected into these stone troughs (the sea water will automatically diffuse into these salt troughs at high tide), and the high-quality edible salt is dried by the sun. Because this method created a high-yield "Sun salt" precedent, Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty once wrote "Zhengde" to these salt field people, and later people also called it "Millennium ancient salt field" and "new British ancient salt field".
Tourist Scenery

Children play in the pond beside the ancient salt field, the old people enjoy the cool under the ancient banyan trees, and the people in the ancient salt village are calm and calm.
During the visit, you can see that from time to time little girls in some nearby villages are collecting soil to filter salt.
