Shen Congwen cemetery

Shen Congwen cemetery is located on Tingtao mountain on the Bank of Tuojiang River. From Hongqiao, down Huilongge ancient street for three kilometers to Tingtao mountain, from the mountain road to the right, you can see a stone tablet with five powerful characters "Shen Congwen cemetery". Behind the tomb stands an irregular natural stone of five colors. In front of it is a copy of Shen Congwen's handwriting, engraved with Shen Laofu's philosophical statement: "if you think according to me, you can understand me, if you think according to me, you can know people." On the back is an elegiac couplet engraved by Professor Liu huansu, nephew and son-in-law of Shen. Not far away, there is a long stone tablet inscribed by artist Huang Yongyu for his cousin Shen Congwen: "a soldier either died in battle or returned to his hometown." It's quiet and far away. There are many chrysanthemums and garlands around the cemetery.

Shen Congwen cemetery is located in Tingtao mountain on the Bank of Tuojiang River. Personage introduction

Shen Congwen is a famous Chinese writer, historian and archaeologist. He was born in Fenghuang County on December 28, 1902 and died in Beijing on May 10, 1988. He was 86 years old.

In his life, he has written five million words of works and articles, including Biancheng, Changhe and Congwen zizhuan. In his later years, his monograph research on ancient Chinese costumes filled a blank in the history of Chinese material culture. From Phoenix to the world literary world, Mr. Wang won honor for his hometown and the nation.

The people in his hometown revered him very much. The county Party committee and the county government discussed with their families and decided to bury his ashes at the foot of "Tingtao" mountain. The Shen family took the initiative to take care of the funeral expenses.

The cemetery is built on a long and narrow lawn. There is no grave. There is only a 6-ton natural colorful stone in the tree. On the back of the stone is a couplet written by Zhang Chonghe, Shen Congwen's sister-in-law: "if you don't break it or follow it, you'll get the best of it; if you're kind, you'll get the best of it." The four words at the end of the couplet: "let people from the text" reflects Mr. Gao Fengliang's whole life. Shen Congwen cemetery is quiet, surrounded by green trees. There are countless wild flowers and bamboo butterflies on the cemetery and the surrounding lawn. All these are left by the tourists who came to worship.
