Hongqiao

Also known as "wind and rain tower", the Hongqiao bridge lies on the Tuojiang River, which is the central landmark of Fenghuang ancient city. The bridge was originally built in the 7th year of Hongwu in Ming Dynasty, and the building on the bridge was rebuilt in 2000. Couplets written by Huang Yongyu and written by his younger brother Huang Yongqian are engraved on the two walls of the bridge.

The bridge has two floors. The first floor is a pedestrian passageway, from which tourists can travel to and from both sides of the Tuojiang River. In the passageway, there are various shops selling handicrafts and local specialties. There is a large flow of people on weekdays, but the prices are high. You can buy some books from the Biancheng bookstore. You can also go up to the second floor to overlook the Phoenix, which is also one of the best scenic spots in the ancient city. You can also sit down to drink tea and blow the river breeze, rent ethnic costumes to take photos, or take pictures of the Phoenix at dusk, which is also very beautiful.

Hongqiao Town belongs to Minhang District of Shanghai, located between Hongqiao Economic Development Zone and Caohejing emerging technology development zone. The resident population was 157142 (2017). It has jurisdiction over 33 neighborhood committees. The town government was originally stationed at No. 2888, Hongmei Road, but has now moved to No. 1136, Wuzhong road.

Hongqiao city and Hongqiao Town were set up in the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China. In 1950, it was renamed Hongqiao Township, belonging to Xinjing district and later to the western suburb. In 1958, it belonged to the July 1 commune of Shanghai county. In 1959, it was established as Hongqiao commune. In 1983, it was changed into a township. In 1993, it was withdrawn from the township to build a town. It has jurisdiction over Changning District and Xuhui District in the East and North, Huacao Town, Qibao town and Meilong town in the West and south. At the end of 1995, it covers an area of 12.5 square kilometers and has a population of 38900. The town government is stationed in Hongqiao and has jurisdiction over 8 administrative villages (the Dadian includes 10 administrative villages, namely Hongqiao, honger, Hongsi, Hongwu, Hongliu, Hongchun, Xianfeng, Xijiao, Jingting and Xinqiao).

With the urban construction and development, the number of new residential areas is increasing. Historical evolution

Hongqiao Town is one of the main vegetable production bases in Shanghai. It has been planting commercial vegetables for more than 100 years. During the Zhengde period of Ming Dynasty, it gradually became a market, which was called Hongqiao city during the Jiaqing period of Qing Dynasty. The north of the town is called Beitan, and the south of the pond is called Nanjie. In the early years of the Republic of China, most of the shops were concentrated in the South Street. In the North Beach, there were cloth shops and gin shops. There were 32 industries and 56 shops in the town. During the Anti Japanese War, it was located in the blockade line of "Qingxiang" between Japanese and puppets, and the market declined sharply. In 1949, there were 61 stores with 118 employees. Among them, there are 14 Yanshi shops, 8 teahouses, 5 tofu shops, 4 restaurants and 4 xianrouzhuang. Since the 1960s, shops have gradually moved to the North Beach, along the North Bank of Puhuitang, facing the river. Jianxin town is located in the north of the town, at the intersection of Hongmei North Road and Wuzhong road. It has more than ten shops and rural movie theater. There were 20 stores in 1984. Hongqiao villa is newly built in the north of the town for foreigners living in Shanghai, and Tianma hotel is built in the east of the town. In 1986, some areas were supplied with gas. In 1984, there were 700 households with a population of over 2300, and vegetable farmers accounted for the majority. The reconstruction of market towns is carried out according to the plan. The series of contemporary China is a typical introduction of new market towns. There are 87 bus lines connecting Longhua Town and Qibao town.

The average annual rainfall in flood season is 540.5mm, accounting for 49.6% of the total annual rainfall. The monthly precipitation of the whole year is the peak in August, the second peak in June, the high valley in December and the second valley in July.

Since the middle and late 1990s, Hongqiao area has become one of the important concentration areas of high-end real estate development in Shanghai. By the end of 1999, nearly 2 million square meters of all kinds of real estate have been developed and constructed. Hongqiao area used to be one of the important "vegetable basket project" bases in the suburbs of Shanghai.
