The vast sea area is its pavilion, and the South Taiwu mountains across the sea is its wall. In front of the boulder, the four characters of "sea and sky" written by Zhang ruitu, a great calligrapher of the Ming Dynasty, can't help causing countless associations.
Historical evolution
Shuzhuang garden was originally the private garden of Lin Erjia, a wealthy gentleman in Taiwan. It was turned into a park in the 1950s. In recent years, many facilities have been built and the area has expanded
More than 3000 square meters, is quite characteristic of the seaside park. In 1894, after the defeat of the Qing government in the Sino Japanese War of 1894, it was forced to sign the humiliating Treaty of Shimonoseki, ceding Taiwan to Japan. But Taiwan's army and people refused to cut Taiwan. Liu Yongfu, the chief soldier, led the "black flag army" to resist. The corrupt Qing government ordered the officers and soldiers stationed in Taiwan to return to the mainland. Lin Weiyuan, who was then Taiwan's reclamation governor and Minister of Youth League defense, did not dare to disobey his orders. In 1895, his family crossed the island and settled in Gulangyu. Lin Weiyuan, a native of Longxi, went to Taiwan to make his fortune in Tanshui during the reign of Emperor Qianlong. He built "Banqiao villa" in Taipei, which is called Lin's garden. His son, Lin Erjia, lived there since he was a child, and everything in the villa left him a good memory.
Lin shuzang's ancestral home is jiaomei, Longhai, Fujian. His ancestors moved to Tanshui, Taiwan, where he built a magnificent garden Banqiao villa. Lin shuzang spent his youth there. In 1895, in accordance with the Treaty of Shimonoseki, the Qing Dynasty ceded Taiwan to Japan. Shu Zang's father was unwilling to be a slave to the subjugated country, and angrily moved his family back to Gulangyu. Lin shuzang was the general manager of Xiamen insurance and Commerce Bureau and Premier of Xiamen chamber of Commerce for six years. He was enthusiastic about local industries, advocated the establishment of public utilities and subsidized public welfare undertakings. As he grew older and more homesick, he decided to build a garden at the Tibetan site to express his nostalgia for "Banqiao" and Taiwan.
In 1913, he hired a famous craftsman to build Shuzhuang garden. Lin Weiyuan died in 1905, and Lin Erjia inherited his father's career. In 1913, in memory of Banqiao's former residence in Taipei, he chose a slope under Caozi mountain and Jindai Shuimei on Gulangyu Island to imitate Banqiao villa in Taipei. Referring to the famous gardens in the south of the Yangtze River, he built a garden and named it "Shuzhuang", which is the homonym of "shuzang" and also the implication of "daoshu master Manor", because Lin Erjia's ancestors made a fortune in Taiwan through cultivation. He spent 10000 silver yuan on "embellishment" and asked Xu Shichang, the then "great president", to write the plaque of "Shuzhuang" garden. Lin Erjia carefully designed the structure and layout of the garden, trying to reproduce the style of Banqiao villa in Taipei and the charm of Jiangnan garden. He used a slope of less than 10 mu to create a wide space and put all the scenery he could see into the embrace of the garden. In the garden, there are meishou hall, Renqiu Pavilion, Zhenli Pavilion, 44qiao, Tinglang Pavilion, Enshi mountain house, twelve caves, yiaiwulu, Guanchao building, Xiaolan Pavilion, etc. it is small and unique.
After the victory of the Anti Japanese war in 1945, Lin shuzang returned to Taiwan because he missed his hometown and relatives. In 1951, Lin shuzang died in Taiwan. On July 1, 1956, Lin shuzang's relatives dedicated the garden to the country and made it a park. The Shuzhuang garden was renovated and expanded by the government of Guqu district. The Pavilion (now known as the piano museum) and shecen garden were built. The bronze statue of Lin shuzang was restored, and the seaside corridor and Zhiyin square were built. Keep the old park Young and vigorous.
Garden Art
Shuzhuang garden integrates three of the ten characteristics of the world's garden art with the most artistic characteristics in one garden, which is very rare. The first feature is "hiding the sea": people can't see the sea when they walk on the road. They can't see the sea when they get to the garden gate or even enter the gate. A yellow wall blocks their sight. When they turn out of the moon cave gate and bypass the bamboo forest, they suddenly "see the sea in the open sky" and achieve the amazing effect of suddenly seeing the sea. First, the sea is "hidden" and then the sea rushes to the "tidal observation building" in the sea. It's a pity that the building has not been restored after being blown down by the typhoon. After visiting Shuzhuang garden, swiss garden experts said, "we only have Tibetan lake, but Xiamen has Tibetan sea, which is very rare." The second feature of Shuzhuang garden is "skillful borrowing": it is Lin Erjia who makes full use of the slope, the reef and the fluctuating sea water near the sea, builds steps around the ground, builds bridges and pavilions, and turns a small bay which was originally very narrow into a sea garden with a broad view by taking advantage of the natural beauty around it. In any city or park in China, you can't appreciate such wonderful artistic conception and taste. This is the most beautiful place of Shuzhuang garden.
Here you can see the surging waves, surging back and forth; nantaiwu in the distance, Tanyu, Qingyu and Wuyu in the near, vast and graceful; sunlight rock in front, hero mountain and even Songyu corner in Haicang have become the exterior of the garden, forming a dynamic three-dimensional painting, which is very beautiful. The third feature of Shuzhuang garden is "the combination of dynamic and static": Lin Erjia's treatment of dynamic and static is also quite unique. A rockery is built on the slope, which is divided into "Twelve caves" according to the local branches. The caves are connected to let children go to play, showing the dynamic scene of dancing and wandering; there are small pavilions and pavilions on the slope side, which can rest and view, showing the quiet and elegant environment. The flow of the tide, the repose of the long bridge, the flowers on the shore, and the competition of all the boats in the sea all embody the harmony between the dynamic and the static! Lin Erjia also moved in the small Banqiao villa in Taipei, and built meishou hall and Renqiu Pavilion into small and exquisite buildings. They use double eaves to rest on the top of the mountain, cornices to raise corners, glazed walls, small bridges and flowing water. They are elegant and clean, and are integrated with the sea, mountain and sky. Formed a unified style of traditional Chinese garden architecture group, so that the whole garden not only has the beauty of Jiangnan garden, but also has the beauty of Minnan garden.
Architectural features
Shuzhuang park is built on the sea. In the Haicang Park, there are caves beside the mountains and stones to build up the mountains. The scenery of the mountains and waters in the distance sets off each other. The buildings, pavilions and pavilions are different in shape. The low hurdles of Jiaqiao bridge are like a dragon. In the garden, you can see the sea, the waves on the shore, the mountains and the sea, the secluded caves, the flowers on the path, and the green trees on the line.
The garden construction is divided into two parts: Canghai garden and Bushan garden. It is mainly to store the sea with gardens, to decorate the sea with gardens, to expand the garden with the sea, to fill the mountains with stones and to store the sky with caves.
When you enter the garden, there is a horizontal wall to block the sight of tourists and hide the sea in the garden.
Characteristic landscape
Shuzhuang garden has a lot of scenery, but the most distinctive features are:
Tibetan sea
Along the way, I couldn't see the sea. Even when I got to the garden gate, I couldn't see the sea. A high wall blocked my view. When I looked back, the lintel on the inside of the garden gate was high
Hanging the plaque of "zanghai" impressively, he immediately understood the meaning of zanghai, turned out of the moon cave, and suddenly "the sea is wide and the sky is wide" and the sea rushes to the sky. This technique of hiding first and then revealing has received a surprising effect.
Skillful borrowing
Lin Erjia made full use of the slopes, reefs and tides in the bay. He built terraces, bridges and pavilions around the Bay, which was originally very narrow. Taking advantage of the natural beauty around, Lin Erjia turned the bay into a sea garden with a broad view and a high level. In particular, walking on the 44 bridge, facing the vast sea and sky, no one can feel its small size, but feel the size of the garden. In the distance, nantaiwu, yuziwei at the foot of the mountain, Danyu, Qingyu and Suyu listed, sunlight rock and hero mountain in front of us, Songyu corner in Haicang and seagulls flying in front of us all become the exterior scenes of the garden. The moon crossing Pavilion on the 44th bridge is the best place for Shuzhuang to view the sea and enjoy the scenery. It's a real pleasure to enjoy the sea and the moon in the dead of night and the gentle waves during the Mid Autumn Festival!
In recent years, Shuzhuang garden has built many new facilities and expanded its scale. In particular, tingtaoxuan will be transformed into a "Piano Museum", displaying 30 world-famous ancient pianos collected by Mr. Hu Youyi, a collector of Gulangyu in Australia, including Steinway made in the United States in the first half of the 19th century, bosendorff in Austria, Royal piano specially used by the German royal family, rare gold-plated piano, the world's earliest quadrangle piano and the largest vertical piano Piano, the oldest hand piano, foot automatic piano, eight foot four string piano, shows the world's piano production technology and development level for more than 100 years, which is unique in China. The piano museum makes Gulangyu Qindao worthy of its name and adds luster!
