Jingzhong Temple

Jingzhong temple is located in Yangzhou city. On the north side of the east end of Jingzhong lane is renfengli in the East. It is said that this is the former site of Xiaotong Wenxuan building, Prince of Liang Zhaoming. During Chen dajianzhong's reign (569-582), master Zhiyi, a monk from Tiantai, came to promote Buddhism and build a temple, and built a Jizhao courtyard on the site of wenxuanlou. During the great cause period of Sui Dynasty (605-618), Zhizao, his disciple, advocated the Tiantai doctrine in the temple. Emperor Yang of Sui Dynasty attended the lecture in person, which made jizhaoyuan a famous temple at that time. In the Southern Song Dynasty, longxingzhong (1163-1164) worshipped the king of Zhongwu, Yue Fei, and changed his name to gongdeyuan. In xianchunjian (1265-1274), he was honored as Zhongsi. The main hall was rebuilt in Yuan Dynasty and was built repeatedly in Ming and Qing Dynasty. The old title of the temple's forehead has the four characters of "Wenlou Jingzhong". Guangxu 30 years (1904), in the dredging Ditch Road, the Song Dynasty official script "Jingzhong Temple" stone, easy. Outside the temple, a circle gate was set up, with an "ancient text selected from the inside". The main hall is supported by nanmu beams, which is very precious.

Jingzhong Temple

Construction history

There is a statue of the prince in the middle of the building, wearing a kerchief at the head, just like a Confucian. In front of the building, the title of "Prince Liang Zhaoming Wenxuan building" and the title of "Six Dynasties ruins" are inscribed. The cultural relics of more than one thousand years have taken on a new look, and their contribution is indispensable. " Wenxuanlou is also known as the Sutra collection building. Today, there is an important Buddhist Classic of the Qing Dynasty, the Qianlong version of the Dragon collection, which contains more than 7000 volumes. It is arranged in the order of 1000 characters and packed in 21 camphor Scripture cabinets. It is well preserved and is one of the treasures of Yangzhou.

In December 1981, with the approval of Jiangsu provincial government, Jingzhong temple was one of the open temples in Yangzhou city. The monks have returned to the temple one after another to practice Buddhism, and Buddhist activities have been resumed. After various fundraising, the construction of the temple has been started since 1984. The main hall has been rebuilt and elevated, and was completed in December 1988. All the Buddha statues in the hall were rebuilt and completed in September 1991. The center of the hall is for Pilu Buddha, and the two heavenly kings are on both sides of the hall; the left and right sides of the hall are for twenty heavenly kings; on the beam frame of the hall, there are 1000 small Buddhas, "Thousand Buddhas around Pilu"; behind the altar are the group images of "island Guanyin". In the back of the hall, there are two new three storey brick pagodas. Chanting hall for the "three saints of the west", namely Amitabha, Guanyin Bodhisattva, Bodhisattva to the general situation. On the lower floor of the Sutra building is the Dharma hall, which is a jade Buddha for Sakyamuni. It is a gift from Myanmar Buddhists. The Mountain Gate hall will be restored soon.

Protection

Jingzhong temple was designated as a municipal cultural relics protection unit in 1962. Now it is the residence of Yangzhou Buddhist Association.
