Huangze temple was built in Kaiyuan period of Tang Dynasty. It was originally named "wunu Temple" and "Chuanzhu Temple". It is said that it commemorates Li Bing and Erlang. Empress Wu was born here during the reign of Zhenguan of Tang Dynasty when her father, samurai Yu, was the governor of Lizhou. After the establishment of the Wuzhou regime, she used the money to build a large-scale Chuanzhu temple, which was later renamed "huangze Temple" with the meaning of "huangen is vast, Ze and hometown". According to the book stele of huangze Temple written by Chen Hongen in the Ming Dynasty, "huangze temple is said to be created by Empress Wu". In the book yuncang Jicheng written by Zhang bangshen in the Qing Dynasty, it is also said that Empress Wu is in charge of politics and built huangze temple here. ".

In 959, the local government reconstructed and expanded the temple to form the "new Wu Temple of empress Zetian of Tang Dynasty". At that time, the huangze temple was located near the river, including the "Zetian gate", "Tianhou toilet building", "yuelou" (theater building), Maitreya hall and Tieguanyin hall.

Since then, many buildings have been destroyed, most of which are in Qing Dynasty. Huangze temple has been built for more than 1300 years. Its main buildings include gate, Ersheng hall, Zetian hall, Buddha tower, luzu Pavilion, and five Buddha Pavilion. The temple is located on a cliff, overlooking the river, with carved beams and painted buildings. It is well arranged and has extraordinary momentum. It is quite beautiful and majestic.
